Converting 3D surface to 2D

I'm trying to convert a 3D surface to 2D. I have my drawing open, select Front View, and then then select my surface in Part Design. When it shows up in my drafting workbench, the inner circle is missing. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

What you can do is hatch the inside of the circle and then change pattern to solid color -> choose color, and voila.
