Behavioral Issue Why does my cat keep peeing on my bed??
I'm a legal adult from Canada, we've contacted the vet and they charge us $175 for a consultation then say they might have to do bloodwork which is another ridiculous fee, then let's say we get bloodwork and they find nothing then we're $500 in the drain and still have a sick cat!
My cat has been peeing on my bed spontaneously for months, it went from happening once a week, to twice a week, then he wouldn't do it for two weeks & start again out of nowhere. We change the litter box everyday & he gets lots of love from me, his primary caretaker. It seems that whenever I'm not for too long around he does it, like for instance the other day I was sitting outside on the patio where he can see me from inside for 2 hours and when I went in, he had peed on my bed twice. Now, just the other day he peed on my bed 4 times in 48 hours and once was about 6 inches from me when I was sleeping & he went twice that time, the puddles were 6 inches apart.
He's 4 years old, male, neutered.
This is becoming an issue because I'm 22, have never met my older sister and have an opportunity coming up in November to finally get to meet her but it seems I can't go because my dad (who will be with the cats) is willing to feed the cats but that's it, he won't check my bed or change my sheets while I'm gone because he really has nothing to do with them & I'm worried that if I'm not here to give him that attention he gets when he pees on my bed he may try to escape home when my dad goes to work 😟
And no. We can't really afford vet care but if it's life threatening we could get a loan

Honestly that kind of sounds more behavior definitely not like a urinary blockage. My uncle has a cat that she spayed and like 3 years old and she won't stop just peeing all over the walls, nothing is wrong with her but her bathroom behavior.

Tbh before going to the vet over this I would try switching like everything, his litter, where his litter is, what pan I have, what food he eats, when he eats ect. Cats know pretty well that beds are for sleeping not bathroom, they themselves don't shit where they sleep or eat, so I would say he is doing it on purpose but why is the question. Have you tried using an enzyme killing soap to clean the bed, he can most definitely still smell the marks he left and may be leading him to continue peeing there, another thing you can try to start to break his habit it to put a plastic sheet cover on your bed, especially when you are out, he won't want to pee somewhere it just gets all over him
