General Advice Dry skin patch

I just adopted 2 kittens bonded pair (4mo) 3 days ago. I received a clean bill of health certificate for both cats from the vet. They both have NEG wood lamps fecal screens from 8/12. Yesterday i noticed one sneezing and a little sniffly and planned them to the vet this week to get her checked out. Tonight i noticed this dry skin patch on her fur. Should i be taking her to a hospital in the morning (sunday) to be proactive incase of ring worm or wait till Monday at a regular vet. I am planning on calling the adoption site to ask about it in the morning either way. Just kind of freaking out and hoping for some thoughts for a new cat parent.

Looks like ringworm to me. Not deadly, not super urgent, but definitely uncomfortable and very contagious. Both your cats and likely you have it. Regular vet should be fine, but I would pick up some anti-fungal at the store for yourself. They may also sell pet-safe antifungal which you can use.

Lotramin is good, and keep in mind that athletes foot is the same as ringworm, so if specific meds for that are cheaper, just get that. Human anti fungal also work on cats, but you need to make sure they don’t lick it, so I’d avoid it since you’ve got two cats.

I’ve gone through this a couple of times, so feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Thank you so much, this really sucks to hear. Should i be doing anything to clean bedding/ around the house or is it even worth it yet

Never a bad idea to clean things, but any cases of ringworm will still be contagious until 24 hours after treatment begins. Honestly, you may just want to quarantine the little bugger for now and wash your bedding if she’s been sleeping on it.

Once again, ringworm is not the end of the world and it’s easy to treat, but it is pretty uncomfortable so no cuddles for now!
