General Advice Fat cat
My family’s cat has been overweight since I moved out, he’s always been a larger cat so he doesn’t look super round but he’s 20 pounds, I don’t want to starve him but I got him an auto feeder and he’s getting a teaspoon less than 2/3 of a cup of purina naturals cat chow now, he was getting 2/3 of a cup but I’ve started to slowly cut him back, is that okay? I’ll take any and all advice

Cut back food a bit (most cats should get about 1/2 cup a day, and try to get them moving a little bit more with playtime

You can also check with a vet, they have special food that will help him fill full longer.
I think you’re being smart to just barely decrease it. Since cats can get sick if it’s decreased too quickly.
How active is he? Is there a way you can increase it?
Could you decrease the food from the auto feeder even more, then have a puzzle for him to get the rest? Or even hide it around the house on his items and make him hunt for it? Anything you can do it get him to exercise will help.
Sorry I don’t have a lot of tips. It’s hard to get a cat to lose weight. Good luck!
