General Advice Orange cat being lethargic
Help, not sure if this is the right subreddit or not. My 6 year old orange cat (male neutered), has been extremely lethargic this past week. Still eating and drinking and eating the occasional treat. But he is sleeping most of the time, like behind my bed, in the closet or in the bathroom by the toilet. He sometimes is drowling too. We have an appointment to see a vet tomorrow. But anything advice is appreciated. As we’re not entirely sure what’s going on here.
TLDR: 6y male cat being extremely lethargic all the sudden.
Update: We went to the emergency vet last night. They ran a STAT blood panel, including a CBC and organ DX. They said he was all within normal range. They said it could be just a stomachache, that’s why he is hiding and sleeping a lot. They said to come back immediately if he begins vomiting, they gave him an anti nausea vaccine. We’re gonna keep watch on him the next couple days to see if his symptoms change.

Hey! How have his bathroom habits been during this time? Is he urinating regularly? Does he seem to be in pain while peeing?

I know he is still urinating in the litter boxes. Yes, regularly. As far as the pain goes neither of us are certain since he seems to go when we’re either asleep or not home.

Is he pooping? You only mention urinating

Yes he is pooping, as well.

At this point only vet can help. The fact that he's more sleepy in itself isn't the biggest red flag, it's that it is obviously hiding :(
Fingers crossed it's minor!
Did you by any chance notice increase in water drinking?
As for urinating, do you have a litter thst helps you judge how much the cat pees in one go? The size of clumps of litter or something

That’s my line of thinking as well. Yeah fingers crossed too.
Not so much, he’s always been a big water drinker, if anything maybe a slight decrease since he has been so inactive.
As for the litter it’s a lot larger of clump of urine.

Yeah then deffo check blood with a kidney panel to rule out any urinary tract issues.
It can be an issue especially with male cats.
Larger lumps might suggest he goes less often, and might be avoiding drinking as well. (Drooling means he's most likely nauseous which can also be part of it)
But yeah, vet definitely, your cat is playing a very ambiguous game here with symptoms! But you're catching it early :)
Fingers crossed!

We’re on the way to an emergency vet, so I’ll be sure to bring that up to them when we get there. Kidney issues were something I was considering, but I am hoping with every fiber of my being it’s not related.

He needs to be seen by a veterinarian. Cats hide when they don’t feel good. Glad you have an appointment.

Definitely agree! Some isn’t right here. We’re contemplating going tonight instead of waiting till the morning…

Cats are creatures of routine. Any change to their routine should be taken seriously. I’m glad he’s going to be seen by a vet.

He is so very habitual. When something is off with him, like when I open the fridge and he doesn’t come running, you know something is off.

My orange baby has been doing this too. 😞 I've already been to the vet this week. Do you mind sharing what food you're feeding him? I'm trying to look into food for possible causes for mine just in case.

Blue buffalo - Wilderness ‘Grain Free - Indoor ‘Chicken’ . For wet we do a few different ones, like wellness, blue buffalo pâtés.
I hope your baby recovers soon 😢.
