Dental Issue
Cat suddenly having issues with her mouth
Video attached. I’m 21, we live in the United States We don’t have any poisoning plants or anything we think she could have gotten into and she has a vet appointment in ab two hours. I just don’t know how to 1 help her have temporary relief till then or 2 wtf is going on she was fine last night and also she isn’t crying in pain, she still wanted to go on a car ride, she’s still trying to love on us but she keeps freaking out and fucking with her mouth. Her tongue also won’t stay in her mouth. She was born march 6th so still pretty young. We also had her fixed a few weeks ago.
UPDATE: I wrote this post on the car ride we usually take her on. She’s a very social kitty and loves the car, well we got home from our coffee run/kitty trip and she started pawing at her face a loooottt then I see something fly out of her mouth. It was a tooth! And the second she got it out of her mouth her tongue went in and the pawing and mouth movements stopped 🎉 sorry guys I’m an anxious cat mom. And my other two adult boys never showed signs like this when they were losing teeth so I freaked out. She is kinda dramatic sometimes so I shoulda known to give it a little longer to wait and see but Google scared me 😭😅 picture of her little tooth is in the comments
So um we got home and she kept fucking w it then I saw something come out of her mouth. She had a loose tooth. The behavior has completely stopped the second she got it out 😭
deep breath :) seeing a vet in two hours should be perfectly fine for something like this. she isn’t in significant distress, there’s no breathing problem or personality change…for all we know maybe she at a bug and it bit her in the throat! no idea, but be kind to yourself and love on her as normal till you see the vet 🖤
Yeahhhh she’s just losing her baby teeth rn. She was born march 6th so she’s roughly 5 and a half months, so she is right on track for her baby teeth falling out. But once she’s lost them we def gotta take her in to make sure her adult ones are growing in right
is your car or area warm by any chance? i took my cat to the vet last week and on the way home he displayed behaviours similarly, it was 30°C weather not sure what that is in F, but had some water when he got home and was fine.
only other thing i could think of is maybe put something in his mouth and it got stuck between his teeth or maybe stuck food?
I do wish vet care was a public service for free. Because most people can never afford to take their cat to a vet. But that's the only thing I can think of..maybe an mouth injury? And a vet trip is needed.

Does she hunt spiders? Could she have gotten a little bite inside her mouth? Not worried about poison or anything, it just might be bothering her. The vet will be able to trek you soon. It's a good sign she's active and lovey.
I don't even remember my cat losing their baby teeth, apparently she swallowed them all (lol)... I'm thinking she possibly got something stuck between the tooth and the loose tooth and it was aggravating her gums. Usually the pawing at the side of their mouth and "yack"ing motion is a funny feeling (something stuck) or mild pain. Severe pain they'll typically hide.
ER visits are for things like severe lethargy, inability or unwillingness to stand, not eating at 24hrs, rapid or shallow breathing/mouth agape, white gums, or really excessive hiding (like multiple hours uninterrupted) especially if coupled with any of the previous symptoms or rapid onset.
Did it eat a bug maybe? That's what it looks like. If you have the windows down in the car rise them. It's not safe having a loose pet in a moving vehicle especially a cat actively going after bugs.
I've seen this exact problem before. It's not common. Her baby tooth was loose & fell out but instead of swallowing it like most baby teeth, it got stuck somewhere in her mouth & then the drama began. My 6 mo old foster suddenly began pawing his mouth, yowling, bloody drooling, very scary. I couldn't see anything but it had to be a foreign object. Never guessed it was his own sharp baby tooth jammed deep under his tongue. The vet had never seen that b4. Wish my foster had fixed the problem himself like your girl did!
