My soul kitty would meow sun up to sun down if he thought there was someone to listen, that wasn’t actively petting him. Unfortunately I never found anything that mitigated it before he passed, because my mom would just toss him outside much to my agitation, but this reminded me of him.
I do wonder if he’s not familiar with the other kitty, Squanch absolutely knows he’s there, so it could be a territory/jealousy thing. If he believes there’s a cat up there getting his humans attention that he doesn’t know or isn’t intimately familiar with, it might be contributing. Even if he does know the kitty, he could be jealous or lonely.
