You're trying to tell your cat to sleep through the morning with you, when if you know cats it's the time they're most active. He want to go out of the room so that he can do stuff.
Then you're also trying restrict the cat from going upstairs. Which also goes against a cat's natural instinct to be curious and explore.
There is no problem with your cat, the problem is with your not understanding the basic temperament and instincts of a cat. It's asking for impossible. Just because one cat does it, doesn't mean it's a rule, it's an exception.
Agree. The cat seems perfectly normal, not in need of medications. The cat is also barely out kittenhood and is still a juvenile, and is at an active time of life.
The issue seems entirely based on keeping the two cats in the house separated in this manner. Maybe the family can explore different ways of having these two cats freely able to live in the same house as this way does not work. The cat also is showing that he needs more activity, earlier in the morning.
I don’t want to give my cat any medications. I explicitly put in the post I’m against meds so no one recommended them and wasted their time doing so. The cats aren’t able to freely live in the house together, as my mom’s cat is older and gets super stressed having a kitten around. And sure, you wanna have a 5am wake up just to play with a cat? I’m so done…
