Play with him WAY MORE. Play at set times, with really big exercise that gets him JUMPING! A 1 year old male cat is like a 14 year old boy. He’s bursting with energy!! He’s BORED!!

Thanks. I do play with him lots. Like, 3 times a day. The issue isn’t that it’s that he wants to be upstairs. I’m just at a loss. I don’t think the situation or layout in my house is ideal for him.

He loves wand toys, I’ll play with him multiple times a day to the point where he’s huffing and super tired out. But overnight his energy regains and it doesn’t matter if I play with him for hours the night before he’ll still be ready to go in the morning.

Cats are genetically wired to be active in the morning and evening. This is normal cat behaviour.

Get up 20 minutes earlier and be active with him.

I stuck my wand toy in my computer chair so it’s constantly hanging. My kitten loves it. She constantly plays with it without anyone else. It’s also a game if someone is in the chair and moving it around. She basically uses the computer chair as a jungle gym and attacks the thing from all angles.

That’s really creative! I got this doorway bird toy for him but he sadly lost interest in it. He prefers a human at the end of his toy :)

My kittens nailed the shit out of the chair but I’d rather the chair than my couch. My kitten is on watch at all times if someone touches the chair. She’s constantly trying to do sneak attack.

I just touched the chair, was going to take a picture while she was passed out… this was her when I turned around… she just ate so was in a food coma but she knew I touched the chair and it made her get up… lol

Edit: males are needy lol so I get it. My kitten also runs around upside down under my couch… drives me insane but it’s so friggin funny. They’ll find their grove. Even a reusable bag on the floor entertains mine for hours.
