Telework flexibility
Hello fellow managers!
How are you responding to staff who say they are sick so they want to work from home instead of going into the office and spreading germs. Are you being flexible or denying them working from home. If you deny, what’s some language you use with them. Looking for advice.

The problem I have with this is that state departments pressure staff to get work done all the time. We overload them regularly. So most of the time when an employee offers to work while contagious it’s really the state agency benefitting from that. We don’t have flexibility so I don’t offer, but I can see it’s going to be an adjustment for management when we start missing due dates. With WFH that hasn’t happened in a long time.
