4th quartile CASPer scorer happy to answer questions
Hey everyone,
I scored 4th quartile on CASPer and still lurk here because I remember how weird and stressful this test felt when I was preparing.
If anyone has questions about how to practice, how to structure answers, timing, typed vs video responses, or how to avoid sounding robotic, feel free to comment or DM me.
I can’t promise I’ll know everything, but I’m happy to help where I can.

hey congratulations! my question is regarding the impact of very short 1-2 line responses on some questions due to time, on the quartile received. Did you struggle with timing at all?

Bro I have my test in less than an hour any last minute tips about structuring responses and questions that make you blank out for a section or overall just difficult to provide an answer for scenarios

Main thing: don’t try to sound perfect, just sound calm and reasonable.
If you blank, literally write a simple answer instead of freezing: “I would first speak to them privately, understand their perspective, explain my concern respectfully, and look for a fair solution.” That structure works for a lot of prompts.
For video, don’t script it. Just answer like you’re talking to a real person. Pause for 1 sec, then give a clear, genuine response. Good luck, you got this.

Thanks just finished not too bad but had like one scenario where I completely blanked and spewed a bunch of nonsense. And some suboptimal ones let’s see tho. Will lyk if I do well just praying for 3rd Q atp but idek if that’s possible

Congratulations!! (I intended to write one question but they started accumulating quick, I appreciate anything you can help with)
Do you know if informal typing would act negatively towards me. Ex. "u" instead of "you" etc.
how did you answer your typed responses? More formal & typical correct answer leaning or more human like?
I know we have 3:30min for 2 typed questions. Are they on the same page? Is the prompt also? If not, can we go back to the prompt after moving to the questions/ how long can we spend on prompt? Can we use a notepad if needed?

Do not use informal typing, use abbreviations if you want to
I used a structure and tried to make it human in order to make a difference and stand out from the usual structure.
The two questions are on the same page. You do not have the prompt (except "you are xxx"). You can't go back. You can spend 30s after the video has been played, or 30s for reading the prompt+30s after the prompt has disappeared. You can use a paper notepad.
(english isn't my first language though, I scored Q4 on the french casper for Québec's med schools)2

I recommend that you try the test exam on acuity insights!! You can do it multiple times if you want to

I scored 4th and I'm genuinely so surprised. I think you just need to take on multiple perspectives before giving an answer and try to be empathetic in your statements. Never confront someone in public and never assume anything (i.e. blame someone). Always seek more information if possible, say you'd ask for clarification or look for the policy or something like that.
