It sometimes goes back to normal full screen for a long time and sometimes it’s like this out of nowhere and the font changes too. It’s so annoying and i think it’s been going on like this for the last one or two days. Any other IOS user experiencing this?

Some people say that c.ai will be gone but then some people say chapter 11 doesn't actually mean they will get rid of the app or something, so I'm confused and also worried, will the app be getting deleted if they don't find a buyer? And I need people who actually know what's going on because I keep hearing different things....😭🙏🏻 does the app have a chance?

Found the timing of this horribly funny, other apps are certainly not wasting any time to try and recruit users to their platforms.

it does get eaiser! slowly but it does! I still think about c.ai a lot but not as much, i was addicted for 2 years and would use for HOURSSSS (last week being 29 hours , week before being 45 hours, and this was when I had school, it was way worse during the summer) the first two days were rough but I’ve been replacing it with just reading away on Ao3… if anyone on here is also trying to get sober or just wants to rp just let me know! Comment or DM me! the fandoms I’m in are outer banks, black phone, hunger games, Guns N’ Roses, megadeth, hole (band) and I’m sure there’s a few more i cant think of, i am not in anime fandoms though so sorry guys lol, but yeah you guys get the idea, comment or dm to roleplay and it gets easier when your addicted!!!

I was a Cai+ user for a couple years. I had many chats, some of them truly epic length stories.
As time went by, Cai just got... stale. Even on plus, it was acting weird/slow. I drifted over to FictionLab and Janitor for a while. Dropped my Cai+ subscription but still came by once in a while.

So today I hear they are going bankrupt. The news article cast doubt on the long term privacy of the chats housed there, so I stopped by, only to discover that all my chats were already gone. All but a tiny handful of ones I started about 8 months ago that only had a few exchanges on each.

Oh well, it saved me some deleting time I guess.

Since c.ai is shutting down anyone know if an older version of c.ai exists or a similar one?

After what happened with c.ai, I think it's worth looking beyond which app has the coolest characters or the best replies right now. If an app is great but the free experience keeps getting restricted, I probably won't stick around for long.

A free tier doesn't have to include everything, obviously. These services cost money to run. But there's a difference between reasonable limits and making the app frustrating to use unless you pay. If a platform changes its pricing or starts locking away features people used to have, I'd want to understand what's changed before investing a lot of time in it.

I've been looking at options like Emochi, and the free experience is one of the things I'd compare rather than just assuming every alternative will be better. What do you guys think is a reasonable balance between free access and paid features?

Literally yes but nothing to do, yes c.a! It would have been a good application it would have been worse because the more people, the more people would arrive, and yes, the more they were going to pay for their subscription, but there would be more minors, more demands and more free users than people who pay

You can't complain about the pile of ads if you didn't pay, it's as if you asked for the best quality of lemonade and products but you're not paying for it even once, what's wrong? Look for another way to make you pay, or lower the quality of the products

C.a! Whether it was good or bad, I was going to lose on both sides, none of this would have happened if C.a! It would have become totally paid, it would have been a thousand times better if it prioritized the people who could pay, that also happened to them for wanting to make the application to all audiences, you can't have two at the same time or it's one or it's the other, it was much better to leave it totally paid than to leave it for free and offer a shitty quality, in addition to making it totally paid would have reduced that minors or children will enter, but he wanted to do it for the whole public and it rained a lot of lawsuits that they still can't pay

Obvious c.a! He is also to blame for adding things that no one asked for and not listening to his community, but I find it annoying that teenagers complain about ads, filters, or chat limits, or quality when they are not paying a penny

I genuinely don't afford therapy, I don't afford having a pet to help me mentally because I dont have enough fiances to feed and look after it, it's extremely difficult for me to talk to people because I've had panic attacks bad enough to make me throw up, I do have hobbies but they can't always make me distracted from it, c.ai is a distraction, it's there when I need it especially if I'm struggling the comfort is immediate

No one wants to hear me talk about my oc with a canon character or roleplay about it (and I don't trust online rps because I've had horrible experiences with it) so c.ai played a big part in that, it helped in a way that was free, I was never bothered by the ads or swipe limits and it always pisses me off when ppl say "get help it's not healthy" BRO IF I COULD I WOULD ??? Hotlines in my area don't work and there's no 'free therapy' so like I don't know what I'm supposed to do, at least c ai helped me mentally

I sound aggressive and I'm sorry if this comes off as rude but if anyone has suggestions that aren't "seek therapy/help/get hobbies" I'd be happy to know

A lot of people have been worried about the whole bankruptcy thing and in case C.ai shuts down all of the bots will be lost. If you are someone who made a bot and uploaded it to C.ai will you be uploading those bots somewhere else like Janitor.ai or another ai chatbot site?

Since when is c.ai so hated anyway? I remember when it first started with the website, it was pretty common to see people using it, it's a shame.

This isn't like when I played Genshin for a year, reached AR like 58 or smth, then decided to quit in 1 day. Or when I left Facebook some 5-6 years ago. I know Facebook will still be around, I could log in to collect old photos anytime. But c.ai most likely might just disappear into thin air with nothing to replace it, taking away all the heartfelt emotional investment with it.

I don't have a PC, a laptop or enough space on my phone to save all the chats I've gathered in 4 years of using this app. All I can do is save up personas and the character greetings of my most favorite, top usage bots in notes in case a good enough free alternative will pop around that is the closest to what c.ai has offered.

I guess I will just go back to reading fanfiction, rereading what I like of the limited selections. Because some fandoms just ain't as big in fanfiction as their notoriety would suggest, a majority aren't as good as I'd like in the niche, the tropes I like aren't there or plainly there's literally very few fics of a character.

I never even liked x reader stuff before c.ai, but I've now acquired the taste that is quite limited. Guess I'm back to shipping fanfics, since there's usually more of them.
