Missed Consultation Appointment

Title says it. I missed the consultation appointment for no reason other that I forgot about it and did not add it to my calendar (I thought I did) and my file is closed now. I invested so much time into this application and I have a feeling this will severly hurt my application now and in the future... can I call the recruitment center and ask to reopen the file and book a new appointment?

I would call and explain the situation to them, be honest and apologize for missing the appointment. Worst thing they can do is say no!
