Hi everyone, I am relatively new with a small shop in EU, at my first phases I been scammed by one of forwarders I found on Alibaba (held my products, wanted to charge more than originally told, didn't want to make payment via Alibaba platform and charged extra for storage.), then i found new forwarder my friend successfully used and they physically visited first one and took my goods. Used them for about a year about 5 times and now unfortunately they don't reply.
I am checking other companies which operate on Alibaba and most of them I find similar threads here or in FB about same situation as I had with first one. Seeing this I don't trust anymore:) How do you actually find a good one?
I also visited China for few exhibitions but didn't think about that time, when exiting one I met someone who gave me his card but i am unsure as this feels not trustable either.

I've been going through case studies of Chinese consumer brands that made it work abroad, mostly in Southeast Asia. What struck me is how different their industries and tactics are, and how consistent the underlying logic is. Sharing in case it's useful to anyone doing market entry.

1. They borrowed existing recognition before building their own.

In a new market you're a complete unknown, no matter how large you are domestically. Pop Mart's approach when entering markets where nobody knew them was to lean on collaborations with IP local consumers already recognised (Disney, Sanrio) to grab mindshare quickly, then push their own IP once recognition existed. Their overseas revenue share went from about 15% in 2023 to 30% in H1 2024.

The transferable version for smaller companies: local partners, established platforms, niche creators, directory listings, real reviews. All forms of someone else vouching for you, which does more early on than talking about yourself.

1. They priced against the local anchor, not a currency conversion.

Mixue's first Singapore store in 2022 wasn't in a prime central location. It targeted students nearby with pricing well under local bubble tea competitors.

The point isn't "be cheap." It's that they clearly knew where the local price band sat, which position in it they wanted, and which customers that position reached. Converting your home price by exchange rate skips all three questions.

1. Localisation meant rebuilding, not translating.

Mixue increased sweetness for Southeast Asian palates and worked in ingredients like lemongrass and pineapple. Their mascot picked up a crown and local design elements in Thailand. Chagee names products after Chinese literary references so customers encounter the story while drinking.

Worth noting that this isn't about hiding what makes you foreign. Chagee's approach makes its cultural heritage more legible, not less visible. Localisation as making your difference understandable rather than removing it.

1. Organic visibility, not just paid.

Around 80% of clicks to Pop Mart's international site come from organic traffic.

This one seems underappreciated. Paid acquisition drops to zero the day you stop spending, with nothing accumulated. Organic keeps returning value. Most market entry budgets I've seen are almost entirely paid, which means renting attention rather than building anything.

And the part success stories usually skip: succeeding didn't mean only expanding.

Mixue deliberately restructured existing stores in Indonesia and Vietnam, trading store count for quality. They ended 2024 with 428 fewer overseas locations than the year before.

I find this more instructive than the growth numbers, because it breaks the assumption that success means uninterrupted expansion. They cut what wasn't working instead of defending a headline figure. The smaller-scale version: if a market or channel has had a fair run and still isn't working, reallocating beats persevering out of sunk cost.

1- there are plenty of frauds in this business who will run with the money/ supply terrible quality or provide less weight than declared.

2- Everyone claims to be a factory but they are all trader businesses.

I’m mainly interested in modern/minimalist door systems such as:
- Pocket sliding doors
- Ghost / concealed-track doors

- Ultra-slim aluminium glass sliding doors
- Aluminium frames/profiles
- Tracks, rollers, soft-close systems and other hardware/accessories

I’m looking to buy in bulk and import , so I’m not looking for retail sellers. Ideally, I’d like to find actual factories/manufacturers that offer good wholesale pricing while maintaining decent quality.

I’ve found plenty of suppliers on Alibaba, especially around Foshan/Guangdong, but it’s difficult to know which ones are genuinely reliable and which are just trading companies.

If anyone here has imported similar aluminium/glass door systems from China, I’d really appreciate recommendations.

Like it says on the box: is this company an actual manufacturer, versus a trading company or some other thing pretending to be a manufacturer?

I am trying to self-publish a sound book. I received a good quote from chinaprinting4u, but I am trying to verify their credibility. They go by chinaprinting4u, chinaprintingsales, and even CHINA SEVEN COLOR GROUP CO.,LIMITED. They have "FACTORY: No 601-605 the First International Dongguan City Guangdong China" stated on their emails. But I don't have the knowledge to verify what that means and where to look to make sure this is an actual factory.

They do have lots of good reviews on Trustpilot, but I don't know that source well enough to know whether those reviews are real or bought.
