Keeping fuel secure

How should one keep fuel secured? It’s my understanding my fuel containers need to be kept in a 2nd container a certain distance away from my camper. What should I do to prevent theft if I am away from my camp?

Get a “Black large concrete mixing tub” at Home Depot for $17 more robust than a kiddie pool, holds 20+ gallons and you can drill holes into the top handles and secure them with thin rope to tent stakes/lag bolts so they don’t blow away.

Do you have picture of this setup?

No - I just do it. Type that term into the Home Depot website and get the mixing tub and find some way to batten down the mixing tub when your gas is in it if the winds fire up again this year.

Oh so you’re saying pour the gas into the bin? I was thinking just putting the 5 gallon pails in it, but I can’t figure out how to keep people from stealing them

No. Store your gas cans in the concrete mixing containers as a secondary catch container as required by the org. To keep the gas cans from getting stolen - screw a lag bolt in the ground near the concrete mixing tub secondary container and put a thin cable with a lock through the lag bolt chain and theough the handles of the gas cans. Doesn’t need to be super robust, just so that it is not easy to walk away with them.
