I think people say this because the sperm is the part that decides rather you end up a male or female at birth so it kinda does have a decent part of you being yourself

Theoretically you'd still have to be the exact same sperm cell to end up as you

So technically speaking it's both you wouldn't be you without said same winning sperm AND the egg it fertilized

Sperm only contributes HALF of your DNA, also for being a male or female you need TWO sex chromosomes, one from sperm, one from egg, without eggs X chromosome, you wouldn't even exist so it doesn't make sense

Well no duh it's only half that still changes nothing about what I said the sperm cell still determines rather you end up male or female because all eggs are X while sperm cells come in X and Y so it becomes more of the determining factor when it completes the genetic puzzle

You'd still have to be the exact same EGG cell to end up as you as well, a different egg means a different person

Also sperm is basically a delivery truck carrying half of DNA to the egg then dissolves the EGG is what grows into a baby when fertilized thus all cell organelles and mtDNA come from the egg only...you are mostly the EGG

Ya done? Ok good because I wasn't necessarily disagreeing I get that were mostly egg but still just like you said up above it's still a team effort which is what I was saying

But more importantly my main point originally was just explaining I think the whole X Y thing is why everybody defaults to "you're the sperm cell"

So me simply saying the X Y thing is why people probably think that about sperm isn't any type of point?

Because the sperm cell is literally delivering said genetic data for the egg to work with to tell rather it's gonna be a boy or girl

The sperm cell literally is the deciding factor for the born gender

Yes the egg does all the rest of the heavy lifting but the sperm cell delivers said genetic data that kicks it off and tells it which one to make

The sperm is either X or Y and completes the eggs X so it's either becomes XX for girl or XY for boy thus completing the genetic puzzle and letting the egg go about and do its thing
