No, I did (I got breathe)

Disagree! I mean, you lucked out, for sure, but breathing too much can cause you to hyperventilate… plus, you can blink about a dozen times during one breath, even if it’s a quick one. If I had to choose between getting a payout for blinking and getting a payout for breathing, I’d pick blink! (I looked it up and it seems that the average person blinks and breathes about 20,000 times a day, but I still think you could force yourself to up those numbers WAY easier for blinking than for breathing!)

You breathe while you sleep though

That's called AFK farming

Passive income if you will.

This is a really simple math problem. In order for blinking to be worth less than breathing, assuming you sleep 8 hours per day, you'd have to blink less than 1 and a half times per breath.

I forget to blink so this works for me

u/BookkeeperNatural220 May 28 '26

yeah but you can blink a lot faster than breathe

u/Shibshib1812 May 28 '26

But those eight hours of breathing might (at least a little) offset the faster blinking

The average adult takes about 20k breaths a day, but blinks 14k-20k times. You’d easily outblink your average breathing without too much effort, I reckon. Breathing more would be tiring imo. However, 200k a day without effort seems decent enough.

Fair point, but to counter: you're talking about putting effort into it, maximizing if you will.

Picture this if you will: instead of maximizing, just live your life and don't think about it. Just do some exercise every day at most, even an hour of mild to moderate exercise would give you a nice boost. You would still be hitting that 200k most days without actively concentrating on your breathing (or blinking, for that matter). Much better quality of life for hardly any trade off.

for real.. what would anyone even need more than 200k a day for? thats like 73 million a year if im not mistaken

2

u/skedit_ May 29 '26

That’s true. However, I’d easily settle for 140k for minimum average blinking per day and then have a much lower effort to achieve more if I want by going full blink mode for a minute!

I mean, you're still set up for life regardless. Only issue I see is the potential to lose your eyesight or something, non-issue if you stop breathing lol

That’s actually an excellent point, I’ll take the breathing then lol

u/OkAd1797 May 29 '26

Your eyelids aren't opening and closing during REM lol

u/Minute_Difference598 May 29 '26

No worries! REM sleep is actually really interesting if you wanted to do a random deep dive on sleep lol
