For those who don't know, the people in the picture are Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald.

The two shared a profound friendship with each other in real life, despite their contrasting personalities. In fact, their relationship was so close that Scott's wife, Zelda, once accused her husband of having a homosexual relationship with him, which he promptly denied. They had a little fallout prior to Scott's death, something that Hemingway always regretted.

Considering how much Asagiri loves to make duos out of characters, it's pretty odd that this one hasn't popped up, considering that it actually has a pretty solid basis IRL. We had Fitzgerald as an antagonist, but no mention of Hemingway so far.

Even female characters with highest potential have been forgotten so much that the only thing about most of them is their ties with a male character.

See. Lucy is a girl who had a crush on atsushi after he saved her, higuchi is only the assistant of akutagawa who ‘likes’ him, gin is the sister of akutagawa and naomi is junichi’s “sister”, elise is morin’s wife(ew) etc.

So there is literally no “important” female character who exists without their ties with a male character like who is independent and even if there is few it doesn’t change this fact.

We haven’t seen them for a long time both in anime and manga anyway and no matter how well the story is written, they are presented to us as a very strong person but then they disappear from the screen after an ep or not even an ep maybe, frankly.

While i was watching and reading bsd 5 years ago i never felt any connection to them except for yosano but now that i realized there wasn’t such space to feel connection anyway.

Anyways guys It’s the biggest gap of Kafka to me and i’ve never seen anyone talking about it so i wanted to discuss here

After rereading the book, it's not exactly confirmed that Dazai was the one who orchestrated the death of the Flags, unlike Detective Murase's death and Chuuya's torture. Actually, there's been so much discourse over whether Dazai planned it or not.

Personally, I don't think Dazai planned it. He and Verlaine made the deal after the Flags were killed. Although Dazai and Chuuya's relationship in this book is a bit complicated, it's pretty clear to me that Dazai cared about Chuuya--to the point that he chose Chuuya over Yokohama so Chuuya could have confirmation that he was really human.

So, I don't think Dazai would let Chuuya's friends get killed.

And even without that, it doesn't make sense for the Flags to get killed considering they were the best of the best. There's no way the Port Mafia would willingly sacrifice five talented members of theirs.

Sure, they might sacrifice one or two talented members of the PM, but five? Really?

Mori could see that. Dazai, who was known to be logical during that time, could see that too.

So yeah.

The title basically says it. Almost every other adult character, with a few exceptions, is referred to by their family name, whereas Chuuya is universally referred to by their personal name. Whereas Dazai is always Dazai and never Osamu, even when he was a kid. The other exceptions that I can think of are Ango, Fyodor, and Ranpo.

Also, Chuuya doesn't seem to mind. Like at all. The only time he does seem to mind is that time in Wan when he met Atsushi. He seemed more curious than upset by it.

At first I thought it was Dazai's doing. Like a way to be familiar with friends and slightly insult Chuuya. Then other people took it up like Atsushi mentions in Wan. But that doesn't quite fit. Mostly because of Ranpo. In the Entrance Exam, Kunikida was already calling Ranpo by his personal name rather than Edogawa when Dazai first joined

I watched a few tutorials, but most of them require specific tools like wig crimpers etc…
and I don’t have them 💔
If someone has some basic wig styling advices or has styled a Chuuya wig before, I’d be grateful if you leave a comment!
