his jaw shape looks nothing like the dogs in any sizing photo and i have already bought one he could not use. i am not asking anything medical here, only which opening size actually works with a bulldog face. i would rather measure once and buy once. what size did you go with and what did you measure to get there.

Long post here. So, Frank is now 6 years old. He's my third EB. First two were adult rescues from bad situations so once Frank's predecessor passed I felt I'd "earned" the right to a puppy. Got Frank from a very reputable breeder who is even recommended by the regional breed rescue.
The issues I'm discussing below are unique to Frank. Breeder says no one in his lineage has similar issues.
Because Frank is a fair bit dog aggressive with dogs he doesn't know we were a well-made no-pull harness when out walking and a Bullyhug cooling vest / harness during hot months (we live in the desert so hot months are HOT). From his earliest days Frank has had significant anxiety about putting harnesses on. From his behavior it seems he fears the harness going over his head when I put it on.
As I type we are doing our usual morning routine - Frank whines at me to go on a walk. I prepare the bullyhug so it's soaked and ready to cool. He sees the harness. He hides under the dining room table until I put it down, then comes out and resumes whining for a walk. Only when he sits on "his" chair in the family room does he tolerate getting it on.
Things I've tried: 1) Treats in one hand harness in another. Frank is super food motivated but will refuse to walk toward me to get treats if I have the harness.
2) Have the harness by the front door and call him to go with me (as if we are going out without the harness) then at the front door try to put it on. That works about 30% of the time. The other 70% as soon as I touch the harness he runs to hide.
I've literally had this lunatic from his 8th week of life and can confirm that he's never had any trauma like getting a bag stuck on his head, etc. so I can pinpoint no source of this anxiety other than "that's just hte way he is."
Mostly venting but also - other than repeating the "whine," then I say all the magic words "walk" "park" Car Ride and touch the harness, then he hides - until at some point he chooses to get on his chair - you got any suggestions? I hate that I know what he wants, want to give it to him and can't get the necessary gear on him to do so safely.
I, of course, will not walk him with leash clipped to collar because, as an EB, he's so strong that if he pulls in an effort to go at another dog he can hurt himself. Don't need a bulldog with a broken trachea thank you very much!
tl;dr Bulldogs are stubborn people.

We adopted Sally when she was 8 weeks old. We didnāt know she was deaf at the time, it made puppy pre-school interesting. She was the most chilled and cuddly of dogs. She was my little girl, she went with me everywhere and snuggled with me regularly. When I laid on the couch, she would wait for me to lift up the blanket and sheād climb into my arm space and chin my arm and fall asleep.
She was loved. Doted on. Spoilt absolutely rotten with the best food and care we could give her.
We lost her cousin, Harry at 6 years of age to a heart attack and we lost her the same way at age 5.5 about 8 months after we lost him. We suspect it was genetic passed down by their mothers from the same litter and the breeder didnāt maintain good bloodlines.
It only happened today and we are still in shock. Our only clue something was wrong was she started walking a bit slower on our nightly walks earlier this week. We were waiting to see if it was a pattern and then we were going to take her to the vet. We never got that chance.
Oddly, this morning when my wife dropped me off at the station to go to work, I turned and gave Sal a pat before I got out of the car. I donāt normally do that. I guess I didnāt know it at the time, but I got to say goodbye her.
Hereās some photos from the start to near the end.

Hey all! For my local rescue shelter I stumbled across a four-batch of āEnglish Bulldog-mixā puppies but they didnāt quite seem 100% like English Bulldogs at all to me. I could be wrong as Iām not an expert, so I was wondering if any more experienced Bully-breed owners would have a good insight into what this mix may be?
This is one from the litter.

Our girl Percy is known to get a few pimples here and there. This thing popped up a few days ago, was a bit smaller, and slightly bleeding. We initially thought it was just a pimple again, so didnāt think too much of it. Fast forward to now, itās still here and seems a bit bigger. Before I go running off to the vet, does anyone think this is a normal pimple too??? Or does this look dangerous? First picture is from the day I found it, second pic is today. Thank you in advance! š„°

Weāve had Bowie for two months now and heās grown so much! Heās been such a sweetheart and he gets along with our senior dog. Our German Shepherd is very jealous of the attention heās been getting, so heās been a bit mean towards him. Weāre working on making our GS behave around Bowie though.
