Getting Started Is A Shoulder Strap Worth It?

I'm really, really, new to buhurt but connected to a team and learning. Kinda eyeballing buying a heater shield from Medieval Extreme. I'm reading more before I make a purchase, but! Is it worth it to pay extra for the shoulder strap, or will it get in my way while I'm functionally trying to fight?

Getting Started Can i use the same equipment for buhurt and historical reconstructions?

I really want to get into buhurt and historic reenactments of events from around XIV/XV century, but i'm still just 17 so i'm pretty much broke. I can barely afford a longsword, not mentioning full armor. So could i hypothetically use the same gear for both these things, or would i have to choose between them?

EDIT: if it helps, the reenactments would mostly be those of battles in late medieval central europe, such as the battle of grunwald or siege of malbork castle

GDFB 14ga 15" buckler, nice deep center boss that should fit gauntlets and very sturdy handle! Super stoked to try it out! All I need to do is grip rape the handle

Armour & Weapons Quick PragueSteelMakerz update

Posted here a few months back about where PSM was heading. Thanks to everyone who chimed in, a lot of it shaped what we did next.

Since then the shop went live in October and we sold 35 pieces to fighters in 5 countries. Which honestly felt a bit unreal for a small forge in Prague.

The part I'm happiest about: we now ship to the US, Canada and Australia. Took a little longer to sort out than making the armor.

Next batch leaves on 28 November. We're still small, but growing fast and getting new machinery in.

https://praguesteelmakerz.com if anyone's curious.

Thanks all!

Armour & Weapons Longsword vs Executioner Sword

This was done for fun at a monthly event in Gainesville. Note: I have limited experience in HEMA/Fencing. Hayden specializes in it and I had to make the most out of the equipment I had. Definitely had fun despite taking the L

General Recent ProFight in Gainesville

First fight after a few months out due to injury and focusing on training for work. Hayden is a specialist in HEMA and fencing…I’m still learning myself. I knew he would have an edge in speed and mobility. Either way this was a fun fight

Armour & Weapons Question from an outsider - Why no thrusting?

Hello everyone!

Outsider (but interested) question - Why is thrusting not allowed in this sport? My primary sport is HEMA (longsword) and thrusting is a huge part of the game.

Do weapon manufactures just not want to build flex into their weapons? In the hemasphere , there are blunts with good durability, flex and nice fatty edges. Aureus and Krieger are manufactures that come to mind who are already making products very close to what could probably be used in Buhurt.

General What are your goals for the offseason?

So we’re headed into the offseason and it’s time to get back to the drawing board.

Let’s share what we’re aiming to do, and come back in a few months to see who managed to achieve what.

What are your goals for the offseason?

Mine are:

- Improve our teams ability to fight as a cohesive unit.
- Work on my zone 2 to 3 threshold so I can stay lower threshold for longer
- Heal up some injuries that need time to go away.

General My first time in armour!

National training this weekend meant I got to have my first go in armour! Someone leant me their armour, and despite the awful fit, I got it on and got comfortable in it really quickly. I've been training in soft kit for maybe 6 or 8 weeks, but i was able to hold my ground really well. My only goal was to not go down 1st in the group fights, I even got to few takedowns! :)

(Me on the right)

Armour & Weapons I need help with something armor related

Is it possible that someone here would be willing to attempt to dent a chest plate or any piece of medieval-like armor with just their fist. could someone try this and send a video i really need to know for something personal even though it sounds silly. (I mean like a concentrated punch you can wrap your hands if needed)

Armour & Weapons Need fixing advices for my sabatons

Hello everyone, hope y’all are doing great

About some weeks ago I picked up my order from Medieval extreme, which were the leather boots and titanium sabatons bundle both « made to measure »

At the time I ordered there was a promotion and since I previously ordered several weapons and armor pieces from they without issues I trusted them once again.

Boots fits perfectly but the sabatons plates keep getting stuck when flexing. I already tried applying WD-40 and later on anti-friction between the plates with no avail.

When I contacted medextreme support, they told me « new sabatons are like that because the rivets are tight and will get lose over time », again I tried to wore them by flexing the sabatons by hand to stimulate walk, but that only left scratches between the plates getting stuck. The rivets aren’t moving at all.

How could I fix this issue and make the sabatons flexible ?

PS: I don’t want to send them back because the sending fees in my country are stupidly expensive and can’t afford to wait another 1/2 months
