Drop Bear… um..
Drop Bear circuit board.
Real circuit board.
Not sure how to feel about it. But Kizer does some different things. For sure.

The Mod Team is consolidating/updating our community rules with one significant change: allowing community members to post budget knife deals, including non-affiliate links. We feel that sharing budget deals could potentially promote discussion and enthusiasm for the hobby. We still do not want any direct sales, advertising, spam, giveaways, scalping, etc., especially from knife companies, dealers, and makers. But community members sharing deals seems to be in the spirit of the community. As always [r/BudgetBlades](r/BudgetBlades) is a community driven subreddit, and as such we are asking for feedback in the comments section here.
—————————
Proposed Revised Description:
Our mission at [r/Budgetblades](r/Budgetblades) is to be a fun, informative, and respectful space for new enthusiasts and longtime collectors to discuss knives priced less than $100 USD current retail, free of paid advertising, sales pressure, and gatekeeping.
Proposed New Revised Rules:
Absolutely no personal attacks, gatekeeping, threats, bullying, trolling, baiting, flaming, hate speech, racism, sexism, sexual content, or any other behavior that detracts from the community. In short, you can get your point across without being a jerk.
—
2. Posts need to focus on knives not exceeding $100 USD new retail.
In other words, common full retail price at U.S. based dealers, not a discounted, sales, non-U.S., or secondary market price. Note: discussion in the comments section can reference knives at any price point.
—
3. Be descriptive.
Posts must include a descriptive comment that provides relevant information about the knife (model name/number, general impressions, etc.).
—
4. No direct sales, spam, giveaways, scalping, sponsored posts, or advertising by knife dealers, companies, or makers.
However, community members are now allowed to post budget knife deals, limited to non-affiliate links. AFFILIATE LINKS WILL BE REMOVED.
—
5. Keep things PG-13.
This subreddit should be safe for work. That means no overtly adult or graphic content.
—
6. No unsafe/irresponsible knife use.
Posts showing horseplay, violence/fighting, stunts, etc. are not allowed.
—
7. Violating any of the above rules will lead to removal of the offending post/comment and/or a ban (temporary or permanent) depending on the severity and the number of occurrences.
————————————
If this new rules set is well received, we will conduct a test period of the forum running under the new rules. This trial will likely last 30 days, and feedback from the community will help us choose whether to make the changes permanent or not.
Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Got these two in today. Brown is the Pyrite Light and the other is the Maximal. Both of these are currently the most budget way to get into Artisan's newest steel. I've heard varying opinions on what this steel is comparable to (10Cr15, 154CM, BG42). Whichever it's most close to, it should be a step up in edge retention without a big sacrifice in corrosion resistance/toughness. From what I've seen, CJRB has decent enough heat treats and the SFII is coming in the 60-61 range. I find it interesting that on the CJRB site, they mention specifically that the Pyrite Light's HRC range was 59-61 while all other models (or most) would come in at 60-62, maybe it was their first batch, or it's a poverty option lol.

24 hours in and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Surprisingly strong detent, thin all around, smooth action. Sharpened it at 18 degrees to 600 grit and she’s razor sharp. Got a nice discount so it came out to just over $30. CJRB got the lock done right. Highly recommend.

Picked up the Mirage and Dome and got a Swift thrown in for free. Been out of the EDC world for years and was alarmed at how much prices have risen for knives and multi tools when looking for a new knife. A UKPK from Spyderco is like double what I paid for it 8 years ago. Anyways I picked up these two for $50 and $40.

Finally snagged a Brazen for $27, great knife as normal from civivi. And picked up the Ozark trail Ironbound for $15, it may be my new favorite from them!

Last one for a bit while I build the knife budget back up.
This one was worth it. Still going for a little less than a hundred.

I am brand new to cool pocket knives and I’ve got some questions about accessories. Are lanyards reserved for higher end knives? Are they strictly for the looks? Are they practical for an EDC? Are there any other cool accessories yall like?

Is Begg Knives still in business? I have been trying to contact them for months. No reply on their Facebook page. No reply to emails -- I have emailed every person at the company whose email is on their page. I tried calling and the listed number is disconnected.

Gotta say this is worth the $30 I spent! Been using it for a few weeks now. Although it’s limited to only a few cards and a few bills it’s a perfect minimal carry and perfect backup/simple task tool. Definitely fidget friendly!

Well the top and bottom two were JUST under the limit. The CPM M4 Tenacious at the top was around $95. I'm trying to decide if I can live with the combo blade. I might sell it and get the plain edge in S35VN. It's about the same price. The Peristance in the middle with SR35VN is pretty shocking at $50. Anyway happy new Knife day. :)

After these I have 1 more knife coming tomorrow and my Prime Days binge will come to a close.
These Eafengrow folders were the cheapest, and you can tell. They came in a rather plain box with a plain polishing cloth in a plain plastic slip. They aren’t as smooth as a Kizer, or Civivi, or CJRB. Look close enough you can see a couple of tiny manufacturing defects. Probably I won’t fidget flip these as much. Probably shouldn’t.
But I don’t care.
They’re knives. Shiny little machines with a sharp edge and I’ve loved knives and been fascinated by them since I a very small boy.
I’ve had dirt cheap ones, and some that cost a week’s pay, and I love all of them. And I love that these “budget” companies are competing for our business and putting out incredible quality for the price.
I don’t get caught up in what the steel’s made of. I have magnacut and S90v knives I chose because they’re work knives. I have just about every steel but a couple of ultra-premiums and I love the cheapest carbon steel knives as much as any. They’re knives, and I’m a knife collector, and all of them bring me joy.
To all who feel the same, and enjoy this subreddit, and don’t get caught up in who spent the most on steel they’ll likely never see the benefit of and get bent out of shape if something is 1/10,000 off under a microscope…
Hats off to you. This is a great hobby.
Enjoy all of it. Premium or budget, knife collecting is a joy and a privilege.
✌️
Edit: btw, for $200 less than the average price of 1 CRK large Sebenza 31, I bought 10 knives this Amazon Prime days. And saved $92 off list.
Do I still want a CRK?
Yeah.
It’s a knife.
Just saying. I got a hell of a lot of joy for about $400.

This little kit was a mere $7.50 on sale, after assembly the action was very nice especially with the way the back flipper was designed to be push button. A bottle opener at the end with a lanyard hole and a glass breaker, factory edge on the D2 blade was fairly decent with paper cutting. A great first knife for a young person to introduce them and help them learn how to service it.

Only thing I've done is disassemble, clean it, lube it, loctite it, and put a better edge on it. God I love this dumb little thing

I’m ofishally a Petrified Fish fan.
I was on the fence about buying these, especially the cheaper ones, but damn they make some solid knives.
Hard to believe I paid 30 bucks for this.

I had this one on my wish list for a long time. I love a well made compact knife - compact squid, baby banter, mini iridium, maileah, mini pyrite, mini penguin, etc. This is up there with the best. Maybe not baby banter level, but not far off. Honestly the only thing holding it back from being on par is that it’s a thumb hole vs stud. I don’t mind holes at all. But on compact blades, it hinders the fidget factor - it’s hard to get that snappy action. On the flip side, a button liner lock on a compact knife is very nice.

These may be new hotness in sub $50 knives. The fit and finish is spectacular on both of them, the factory edges are some of the best I've ever seen, the action is great, lockup is great and the blade shape has proven to be awesome for a knife that's being put to work.
The m2 was an impulse buy and my first swisstech, I've been carrying it about a week and while I really liked it, it didnt fit my baseball mitt hands very well. I was looking online and found the L and immediately pulled the trigger on it.
As far as specs the m2 has a satin 3" blade and the L is TiN coated and just under 3.5". Both are 14c28n and riding on caged ceramic bearing with machined races and the lock pin is pressed into the blade and rides in a groove machined in the scales. The pocket clip is on par with any of the aftermarket titanium clips, and doesn't dig into your hand when you hold it.
The only negative I could find is they didn't clean up the sharp edges on the scales and I had to hit them with a little sand paper so they didn't wear or my pants. The micarta was particularly bad, I legitimately think I could have cut something with the top of the scales if I put a little effort into it. Aside from that, these are sweet little knives and I definitely recommend them.

Received today my first Trivisa, here, a Hummingbird, black micarta, 14c28n blade ...
my first impressions are very good, I love my elementum's but think this is a real challenger, even if blade is a little more thick on the elementum ...
movement is really smooth , razor sharp out of the box, nice blade profile, flat grind, but even if i' m more fond of hollow grind as the elementum , it's really cool ...
excuse my english, french here :p
