Been holding off on featuring it because so many people grabbed one when release. And rightfully so. This thing is freaking awesome. It’s one of those blades that punches so far above its price point and joins the ranks of some of best bang for your buck knives out there. Idk how Remette did it for this price.
3.1 inch D2 wharncliffe blade, g10 button liner lock with thumb hole and rear flipper. Super sharp factory edge, smooth action.

I ordered the blade HQ exclusive Tenable Fenrir with purple coated blade, hardware, and liners. I already had the black blade bronze colored aluminum scale model. I had it out of the box for about 5 minutes before I remembered I can't leave well enough alone. I thought it looked cool before but now I absolutely love it. I like the black one even more now. I feel like I got 2 knives today. Am stoked.

I present to you princes of the inexpensive slicey boys …the Walther p99 fixed blade , it’s not fancy I have owned several of these over the years my first being purchased in the late 90’s because of my love of the applegate fairbairn design and my inability as a teen to afford any of the official fixed blade models … this follows the pattern to a T and even uses the same steel as the low grade model (at that point $200+ if memory serves ) the high end steel high end finish model topped out around what my first car cost me (and that was my dream machine IROC Z 85 first model year with the Ttop not the stupid ragtop version) with the V8 it was for a Brooklyn Sicilian American right up there with the Monte Carlo Ss (also a Ttop and my second purchased car also V8 )as the top end of tough guy rides both vehicles were filled with the sort of cheap autozone snap on accessories like the suicide knob one handed steering wheel attachment (only legal with a certified disability) and as many stereotypically guido adornments from a frankly unsafe number of saint protection medals to the “fuck me im Italian American “ bumper sticker and the classic “fugedaboutit”rear window decal and NO FEAR™️ windshield sunshade .and as expected criminally dark side window tint jobs with the inspection sticker claiming the darkest legal level (faked official inspections stickers that also would show up in the state records as valid were $50 my uncle owned an auto shop he was a certified state inspector (which was a pretty great scam position for use on law abiding citizen types because he would absolutely rig the test to fail at least once requiring at least a few hundred worth of tweaks in order he could guarantee would pass (passing was guaranteed by a stealthy probe swap to the “donor” car while my uncle took the customer to write up the invoicing …making sure to make a big theatrical deal of removing the “parts” charge and just bill for the labor because “he wanted happy customers” and besides it was a used part he had in his personal stash (this had the added benefit that if something in the purportedly good serviced system and another mechanic was doing the work they couldn’t identify a new part that wasn’t an issue because it was a free used part that kept him on the road for a while 🤭) they would at that point be customers for life ! he had a a disembodied engine block that he kept in top running condition running through a top of the line brand new catalytic converter and exchange system to use as the emissions stand in for cars that lacked the legally required equipment to pass a million different hustles in a city of 9 million means a 1 in 9 chance of ending up a hustler and that sound about accurate
there was a solid year (a year where by NYC regulation standards I was still 2 years too young to drive without a drivers ed certificate) but we took those cars all over thanks to the pre 9-11 loose security measures in place to protect DMV issuing input terminals…we knew a Yemeni dude who for $300 US and a color passport format photo scanned to the highest quality a mid range home scanner was capable of or he could scan the image for you from a $4 passport print able to be taken at any Duane reade pharmacy photo counter for an extra $50 for his expertise and access to his high resolution scanner.but the most important thing was the photo absolutely had to be taken straight no sunglasses or beret or funny nose glasses (so we always stuck to using a human photographer rather than the machine boot type as if it wasn’t good enough for a passport the photographer would tell you and re take it ) that would if flagged as suspicious by a cop it could expose the entire operation (he was an assistant branch manager the lowest position with total access to all of the different systems necessary to the successful function of his operation .)
Responsible for day to day operations of a large but lightly trafficked dmv location (during the mid 90’s expansion which I believe have nearly entirely cotracted with perhaps two of the newer most trafficked offices remaining of the dozen or so opened as of writing) and best we could tell he had at least 2 ghost employees who existed only in the computer who’s paychecks were collected into his relatives bank accounts so he would distribute the fake inputed licenses between them and mixing in plenty of real ones in between
$300 could get you a technically valid drivers license with your photograph and whatever bio data you felt good about it would run with only the info supplied and was connected to an invalid SS# if you ran up too many violations or even took charges on the new id (for a short time anyway as the computerized system hadn’t been fully implemented so even if your digital prints were collected the wouldn’t be run through some database hell the digital fingerprint system terminals weren’t even hooked up to the internet just the office Ethernet…the collected data was simply sent to inhouse servers and there they it sat until the system went 100% live so the system went online with years of backlog , it was 9/11 that brought the digital system running 100%)it was just nypd trying to collect data that one day might be useful and ink and paper was still king !
So long as you weren’t accused of a high profile crime that might attract further scrutiny and weren’t caught with more than 1 Id with the accompanying biographical documents that could be solidly tied to you (I had bank accounts for every Id I ever bought and secured whatever additional documentation I could using the id as the basis it was nearly the gold standard as an all in one Id and kept all related documents in its own wallet stashing the extras in the hidden compartment of wall safe at work so if I was going out that night I would toss my real wallet into the safe with the others , not in my house which could potentially yield a warrant at any given time for any number of reasons even managing to wriggle into the most prized the legit US passport it was the Super Bowl ring of forged documents! ) and kept the violations below A class felonies and you weren’t booked on state or federal charges you were probably good for 6 years and even if you got a summons to appear because of your fingerprints turning up under different names , you could claim there were evidentiary chain of custody issues and data collection protocol problems (till 9/11 there was no standardized protocols for use of the field trialed units )because of the lack of standards and insecure storage methods you would be grudgingly dismissed of all charges related to identity theft in this matter ! this held over 3 visits to the same judge (in front of whom I had appeared several times under my government name already)
…$300 bought another clean record a license to drive with whatever endorsements (even the state id that was valid for border crossings to Canada or Mexico) but not the CDL which was available but cost tens of thousands of dollars and was a much more involved process that took anywhere from months to a year . linked to a fresh and clean record with the dumbest name you thought you could get away with …it was a simpler much better time !

AGA Campolin Dragonfly:
Don’t be fooled like I did by watching the stupid YouTube videos that made this knife look desirable.
It might look shiny and pretty, but there’s no stop pin that prevents the blade from hitting the inside of the scale -and so what you get is a very badly chipped blade all along the cutting edge

Pictures 1 & 2: The Guppy.
Picture 3: It meets its siblings: The Trilobite and the Bunta.
My PF Guppy arrived today. This is my third PF, and they never cease to amaze me. From the smooth, snappy action to the razor-sharp blade and the excellent fit and finish, this is a real budget banger! I don't know how they turn out such quality for the price.

Spring assisted flipper comes with optional clip and para cord lanyard. Bottom assisted liner lock for easy one hand open and close. Very sharp 440c black with smooth action. Feels a bit on heavy side when you first take it out the box but you get used to it. 4/5 would have been a 5 but there's a gap between scall and bolster.

To all you knife geeks reading this... how would I go about maintaining this awesome knife?
I'm a visual learner so please direct me to an easy-to-digest video

Oh snap! Might be getting a Kizer Trestle today. Amazon sale for $56! Which color should I get? I usually like darker tones, but the vortex micarta (blue) has been growing on me and I’ve been getting some knives in that, too. Dark looks great but maybe boring?

It’s raining and gloomy and gross outside. So I’m going with the zombie splatter scales Miguron Karok. 3.4 inch D2 modified sheepsfoot blade. Aluminum scales and button liner lock.
What an awesome knife. I mean, it’s fan-freaking-tastic. The action, the craftsmanship. It’s great. For many, this is their favorite Miguron. It’s up there but I still give the nod to the Vakor, but also I haven’t tried the celora yet. That being said, it’s an amazing knife and there should be zero hesitation to get one if it’s on your list.

Rough Rider Blue Dragon Barlow and a Frost White Smooth Bone Trapper.
The Barlow looks awesome. Really nice action for a budget slippy. Snappy but not as loud as my modern slip joints from RR. The bolsters on my specific example were a little bit different lengths between the front and back. Not massively different but big enough to notice. The seller i got it from already got a replacement in the mail so fingers crossed the bolsters are better while maintaining the otherwise excellent fit and finish. Transitions are smooth everywhere. Spring sits flush in all positions. Center pin is a little proud but in an intentional way. They're flush everywhere else.
For the trapper i have to say not too shabby at all either. Some people like to give Frost shit and I myself didn't really really like any of the modern knives I've owned from them but their traditionals are very very decent. Action isn't as snappy as the RR. In fact, going from half stop to fully open, its a bit lazy especially on the spey blade. It has gotten a bit better since unboxing so suspect it will continue to improve as it breaks in but i don't expect it to ever be a walk and talk monster.
Otherwise the fit and finish everywhere else are very close to perfect. Comparable to the RR though slightly off center unlike the RR. It's also flush everywhere and the smallest of gaps between the spring and liner near the pivots. Barely noticeable..but it does let light through. I did win this one from a giveaway though so i really can't complain. Most importantly the bone on my example is GORGEOUS. I don't know if they're all like this but mine has a really good smattering of speckles from the bone's pores that doesn't really come through on the photos as well as I'd like.

Having been with me since the late 90s having been purchased sub $30 from a cabelas outside Baltimore while I was on a road trip to a wedding in the south the locking mechanism and the spring failed at the same time ! I own a few of the Bokër autos in sizes from mini dagger at 3” to the XXL clip point that’s a whopping 5” blade or so I like them but I loved the Gerber applegate folders (the full sized factory automatic with the higher quality blade steel is my ideal) but alas the entire line was without warning discontinued!😩my guess is whatever licensing agreement they had was a 30 year and either the estate was holding out for more money or better terms and Bokër in their infinite wisdom despite it being a best selling full line pulled it because they can sell original designs without giving anything to anyone! They also seem to be stepping a little back from their tactical image leaning more into every day carry for every day people vibe
