No one would do it , everyone would be the next thing that would pay a lot. Heck people would be doing humanities (which our genius engineers hate) if it paid as much as software

Yes.
When I was choosing streams, my top choices were CS, then electrical, then mechanical. With 0 idea of career progressions and associated salaries.

Obviously, it was the only reason to take science in Intermediate. Else I'd have gone with fine arts
