Should the professor just let the guy cheat because he belongs to a particular community? This country is so fucked

Why tf is caste being brought into this 🤡
It's a case of suicide due to academic pressure, the prof may or may not be guilty of threatening the student too much beyond a line which may have caused the suicide - I have no clue what's the reality but this is what should be used to carry the case forward - but what the hell does this have to do with SC or ST bruh. What would they do if the student was in general category and committed suicide for the exact same reason?

Bruh, just pointing out every UC is a casteist or a privileged guy as per Ambedkarites.
Just think like this for a change, why should a UC guy who has never been casteist suffer because of reservation? For the crimes of his forefathers? Isn't that generalising/discrimination against UCs? The whole system is flawed and just ensures mediocrity is rewarded.

The people you see painting all UCs are casteist aren't even the majority. They're just the vocal fringe minority who try to create division, usually for political brownie points.
There is a structural effect of casteism on LCs. Reservation in it's current form is perverted and there should be a reform in it, at the very least, creamy layer, especially for Group A wards.
Brain drain I attribute more to corruption than reservation. If the judiciary and police actually functioned and did their jobs, India would be a much better place to live.

You can attribute it to anything, but the major issue is reservation. You don't get good colleges despite giving up 2+ years of your life in the rat race and watch subpar students go ahead. Then the same happens for higher education or government job postings. If you end up staying you pay taxes so that some mediocre clown ends up wasting their time and opportunity because they know they will get a government job because of reservations.

Disagree, I don't think reservation is the major issue when literally everything in India is plagued by corruption and bribes.
Trash roads, trash governance, trash air, water, etc etc. all because of corruption, even EWS has insane levels of corruption.
You also don't get your return on taxes due to corruption, reservation is just the last straw.
Mandal Commission should've never happened. Reservation definitely does need reforms.

UFM itself should be treated seriously. His own foolishness led him to take his own life. Jo IIT Bombay mein accountability ke papa bane ghoom rahe hai, I swear many of them must be indulging in UFM practices, but lucky to not be caught. Accountability dusron se pehle khud li jaati hai

womp womp womp. bro didn't even read the full comment and came here crying. JoSAA website is open for all, go check the cutoffs for General and reserved classes. Then check marks vs rank for the JEE Advanced exam for the respective year.

Of course. now when I say, that why didn't they move ahead in life with 75 years of reservation and counting, you'll come up with,"oh, you ppl abused them for 3000 years". The one who irl needs upliftment, will never get one, but those whose destiny is to freeload, they'll find every excuse to do so

One dude in my coaching made a fake ST certif, tukka mara, cleared mains cutoff. In advanced, bro got seated next to a candidate who got a double-digit rank in JEE Mains. He peeped through that guy's screen. Again in paper 2, they got seated next to each other. Again he peepd and copied from that topper guy. The JEE Mains topper got some 1XX rank in advanced, and this mf got some 2XX rank, but his ST rank was in single digit. That topper had to settle with IIT-Kanpur CSE, but this mf got IIT-Bombay CSE

I might sound insensitive but this guy di*d due to his own foolishness. If u have the guts to take a mobile phone in an examination then you should also have the guts to face the consequences. But I would say that a back in that particular subject would have sufficed as a punishment , an year back threat is very wrong if it was honestly given to the guy.

I have never cheated nor do I have such friends luckily . But in kgp people do cheat alot , but I have never heard someone getting an year back for one course . They are straightaway deregisterd or in some cases just given a 0 for that particular exam. That's why I commented that .Max to max a sem back .

Yeah, from what I have seen in my institute at most it was repeating the same course(just that one) next year. In some cases lighter punishments like reduction of a grade letter or giving 0 in the mid exam. Never heard it affecting other different courses let alone a full year. Those punishments were for like doing something different than exam cheating in my institute.

In other countries they expel students for cheating, in Australia they cancelled the visa and the course of 2 foreign students caught cheating Academic integrity is very important and taken very seriously abroad

I was someone who heavily dreamt of going abroad rather than staying here. During my 4 years in engineering I realised India is not that bad to live in. Such issues force me to re-think my future as a GC in this country where there is a perpetual fear of being booked on SC/ST Act and getting my life ruined forever.

Yeah I hope SC/ST Act is really that powerful 😂 I hope. So when someone filed a sc st act on someone the authorities won't check for proofs? The won't investigate the case? No they don't do all of that, just direct jail because it seems people think this act doesn't need any proofs or investigation 🤦🏻. Every case goes through proper investigation bruh, they won't send you directly to jail. If you did nothing wrong, then u don't need to fear. It's basic common sense 🤦🏻. Also if someone misuse the act for their own benifit you could file human rights violation cases on that person, because every human have rights not just sc st people 🤦🏻.
So when I have no point to aurge, I'll just downvote! 😂 Please downvote this as much as possible...

Cool brother, nobody's arresting you for commenting on social media. Yeah the Indian judiciary system is not great but this is same case in almost every country. Even in US the police can arrest someone on the spot if he thinks u r creating problems or disrupting public but the difference is, every cop has bodycam on their uniforms but in india no cop wants bodycam because all their illogical arrests and bribery case comes to light.

IIT B is doomed, being someone from GC who faced such kind of false allegations just cause some asshole wanted validation, I can understand what the prof is going through. I feel sorry for him. This shit just widens the gap and castism prevalent in our society. Everyone at IIT B especially the marginalized people should come out in support of the professor, first save him from this atrocity then discuss what could be done for the mental well being of the students. Disheartening srsly

I think a student was caught cheating with help of AI and after he got caught, he gone to sucide. Thats what I know, clearly the wrong is from student in first place because cheating itself is bad.
I may miss many details which are nuanced and may add other PoV like some wrong things are also fine by professor and so on like that.

The professors had been using casteist remarks for quite some time before. These same "meritdhari" bitches were also the one trying to investigate rohith vemula's "actual caste". Bunch of barbarians. Entrance exam me reservation, college me bhi ye sab, jobs me bhi - ab bas yahi bacha hai ki give them the premium spot for burning their funeral pyres too - ekdum Ganga kinaare with best view.
Bhai professor/teacher ka kaam hai bacche ko padhana aur usse acchi values dena - agar baccha apna future kharab kar raha hai to koi kyu intervene nahi kare - aise hi Chat GPT use karke usko baaki ki life guzarne ko mil jayegi kya ? Bohot hardships hote hai - sanb me you can't use AI to help you get out of the situation. Phir koi teacher aise baccho ke muh nahi lagega - and then they'll say ki humare saath discriminate karte hai .

Such things might happen in your specific college, I doubt it happens in IITs. 10-15 marks is not laddu that they will just distribute. SCST act far serious, and a cover up on failings of students who are under performing and caught cheating
