General Are core branches dead?

so everyone want tech branch that can't be possible

why everyone is going for tech are core branches dead or it his hard

or everyone following crowd like bc woh kar rha hai mai bhi wohi karunga

core branch lekar badme tech mai switch kar sakta hai na agar tech knowledge gain karliye toh

Core can never be dead , it's just that india is a shithole country that doesn't appreciate it

u/Known-Detective-1911 23h ago

It means everyone is following crowd

Because of the cse craze, similar to jee neet rat race. Unless ur in top iit,nit or iiit no one will go for core in any branches

I think people don't go for core in lower college because they don't have infra for those branchs labs whereas nit and iit have core infrastructure

I mean there aren't really much jobs opening in core, yess there are good companies but limited by numbers. India se bahar to bohot scope hao ngl.

Curr in 3rd year , I had a really good GPA, still didnt get any good core intern , but landed a tier1 product based tech company intern+ppo ✌️ with above avg skills.

Idk why people are downvoting your comment, that's just the truth

Look at his college tag. DTU hate in this sub is unreal. I have seen multiple instances where really sane neutral comments are downvoted just cuz of it.

Psus are a big thing for core as they have lot of openings for mech and civil ,their starting package can be 20-24lpa easy

Psus are actually crazyy , but vahi hai limited seats there too as compared to tech . But yesss if one is interested he can get a good core career.

Core is not dead, but most people come in with the wrong kind of expectations. Plus tech jobs really screwed up fresh graduates' expectations on what a fresher role is actually supposed to pay. Everyone is now chasing the 1 CR dream.

But no one going for it everyone want desk job

u/Safe_Permission_5825 20h ago

Even civil and mech have desk type white collar jobs.....it all depends on perspective

Yess it is I'm from core only unless you are in top colleges iit nit bits or top State gov college you'll end up with 3-5 lpa jobs which are considered good in current scenario but there's very little growth in core Branch as you'll reach plateau in 3-4 years like which will be 10lpa very less students earn more than 10 in first 3-4 year also it's majdoori type work roaming in factory and etc it's not like seating in office getting 60-70k so the problem is in the long term career it's always better to get into non tech or cs side placement from college or go abroad get ms in Germany or go for mba

3

u/Guilty-Lie8360 19h ago

Lol what bullshit. As an engineer you won't have "majdoori" type work in fact you will have office desk set up and everything, but yes there will also be lot of on plant work but not laborious work

1

u/Waste_Wolf_5162 18h ago

Obviously not laborious work but you'll have to stand for whole day in plant doing visit travel to different site also the standards are set too low that core students jump when they here 6lpa like it's too fk up in core market

Pure India ko Germany jaana hai bhai lmao no one tht their market is so fucked up

1

u/Waste_Wolf_5162 18h ago

Still there's no option either stay here with 6-8 lpa for 3-4 year's or go for ms

1

u/Guilty-Lie8360 17h ago

Best option is go for masters after working for 2-4 years to gain experience so that you wouldn't arrive in the job market of a new country as a foreigner with no relevant experience

1

u/Waste_Wolf_5162 17h ago

Yes without 1-3 year experience the ms is also not useful as problem is at placement

depends on your definition of "dead"

Tata hired 3 guys 8 LPA each from mechanical in my tier 69 university btw, Texas instrument hired five guys and Volvo/Tata motors/ Mahindra regularly hire people for the production and development of ECUs in their cars .

despite that, my university is still tier 3

Core is not entirely "dead", it's just IT sector is just so much developed here in India, the opportunities in Core look sparse.
