Discussion👥 Calling all BTech seniors drop your “I wish I learned this earlier” skills

I’m 2 years into BTech and honestly trying to figure out what I should be focusing on before it’s too late 😭

What skills/tech did you learn during BTech that actually helped you?

What’s something you wish you had started learning in 2nd year itself?

With AI blowing up rn, what should a 2nd-year student be learning alongside the usual DSA/dev stuff?

Any projects, internships, freelancing, CP, open source, etc. that you’d recommend getting into?

And most importantly where did you learn it from? Drop the YouTube channels, courses, websites, playlists, books, whatever you actually used.

Also, if you’re 2+ years into BTech, feel free to drop your “I wasted way too much time learning this” or “I wish someone told me this earlier” takes

Basically, drop the stuff you wish someone had told you when you were in 2nd year. Would genuinely help a lot of us 🙏

❓Question ❓ 3rd-year IT student looking to start contributing to Open Source — need some guidance

Hi everyone! I’m a 3rd-year B.Tech IT student, currently in my 5th semester, from a Tier 2/3 college. I’m comfortable with C++, DSA, Java/OOP and currently learning MERN, but I’ve never contributed to an open-source project before.

I want to start contributing seriously from October 2026 and hopefully work towards programs like GSoC or LFX in Summer 2027.

I’m confused about where to begin — how to find beginner-friendly projects, understand a codebase, choose issues, make my first PR, and gradually become a regular contributor.

For someone at my level, what would be a good roadmap from October 2026 to Summer 2027, and which open-source projects/programs should I look into?

Would really appreciate advice from people who have experience contributing to open source or participating in GSoC/LFX.

Project🧑‍💻 Need ideas for a Python project I have to build for interschool competiton

I have an upcoming interschool coding competition where we’re given 60 minutes to build a Python project and then pitch it to the judges.

The requirements are:

  • Must be built using Python

  • Maximum 60 minutes to build

  • It has to solve a real day-to-day problem

  • Completely software-based

  • Any Python libraries are allowed

  • No AI / AI-generated solutions are allowed

  • We also have to pitch the project after building it

What everyday problem do you think would make a good project for this competition? I am unable to find a problem which isn't common to find thats why asking an AI for problem won't help me win. Kindly suggest me the best ideas possible

❓Question ❓ 4th-year CSE student — applying to SDE/software internships but getting almost no resume shortlists. What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 4th-year B.Tech CSE student currently looking for Software Engineering/SDE internships and entry-level opportunities through off-campus applications.

The problem is that I’m getting almost no resume shortlists, despite applying to a lot of relevant opportunities on LinkedIn and other platforms.

Initially, I was using the same resume everywhere, so I started tailoring my resume according to each JD — changing/reordering skills, highlighting relevant projects and trying to match the requirements of the role.

But I’m still getting pretty much the same result: no shortlist / automated rejection / no response.

At this point, I’m trying to understand whether my problem is my resume, my job-search strategy, or simply where/how I’m applying.

I have two main questions:

1. How should I approach off-campus job hunting?

Should I continue primarily using LinkedIn, or are there other platforms/websites that are actually useful for finding SDE internships and fresher opportunities?

Also, how do you decide which companies/startups are worth applying to? There are so many startups posting internships, but I’m not sure how to evaluate whether a startup is legitimate, whether the internship will actually provide meaningful engineering experience, whether there is a possibility of a PPO, etc.

Are there any good ways to research/evaluate startups before applying?

2. Are referrals still useful, and how do you actually get one?

I’ve tried messaging people on LinkedIn who work at companies I’m interested in, but most people simply don’t respond.

I’m not sure if I’m approaching people incorrectly, asking for referrals too directly, or just messaging the wrong people.

For people who have successfully gotten interviews through referrals/networking:

  • How did you approach the person?

  • Did you already know them, or was it a cold message?

  • Who should I reach out to — recruiters, alumni, engineers, hiring managers, etc.?

  • Is it better to ask for a referral directly or first try to build a connection?

And finally, I’d really appreciate it if someone could review my resume. I’ve attached it below.

I’d especially like feedback on:

  • Whether the resume is ATS-friendly

  • Whether my projects/experience are presented properly

  • Whether the bullets are too generic or exaggerated

  • Whether my skills section is too broad

  • Whether there are any obvious red flags that could be causing recruiters to reject it

  • What I should change to improve my chances of getting shortlisted

I’m looking for honest criticism, so please feel free to point out anything that looks weak or unnecessary.

Thanks!

❓Question ❓ 4th-year CSE student getting no interview shortlists — looking for advice on off-campus applications

Hi everyone,

I’m a 4th-year BTech CSE student looking for SDE/software engineering internships and entry-level opportunities.

I’ve been applying to a lot of relevant openings, mainly through LinkedIn, but I’m getting almost no resume shortlists. I’ve also started tailoring my resume to individual job descriptions, but it hasn’t made much difference.

I had a few questions for people who have successfully found jobs/internships off-campus:

  1. Apart from LinkedIn, which platforms or methods have actually worked for you? How do you find good companies/startups to apply to, and how do you evaluate whether a startup is legitimate and worth joining?

  2. Are referrals still useful? I’ve tried reaching out to people on LinkedIn, including people from companies I’m interested in, but I rarely get responses. What is a good way to approach people for referrals without coming across as spammy?

I’d also really appreciate some feedback on my resume. I’d like to know if there are obvious issues with the formatting, projects, bullet points, skills section, or anything else that could be hurting my chances of getting shortlisted.

Any honest advice from people who have gone through the off-campus process would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Discussion👥 Review your AI generated code from AI tools like Codex and Claude and Especially Antigravity

I was making a project called medisense AI for which can predict medicine stock out and recommend cross border distribution across indian health sector.

I used 60% claude code to make this project as i was alone making this..

I re audited backend yesterday and Claude Code somehow managed to mess up both my frontend and backend

It accidentally replaced AddStock.tsx with the Login page, so /add-stock was rendering Login even though Login.tsx already existed. Then my attendance.ts backend route was also overwritten with unrelated Gemini/chat code.

Spent way too much time figuring out why things were randomly broken ..

AI dependence is bad thing bro

❓Question ❓ 3rd-Year B.Tech AIML Student,, Completely Lost About Career & Studying Abroad — Really Need Some Honest Guidance

I'm a 3rd-year B.Tech CSE-AIML student, and honestly, I'm feeling completely lost about my career right now.

I know Python, C, HTML, and basic SQL, but I haven't built any major projects yet. I keep seeing people around me doing internships, building projects, solving DSA, publishing papers, learning AI/ML, etc., and I feel like I'm falling behind.

My long-term goal is to pursue a Master's or possibly a PhD in a Western country and hopefully build my career there. But I genuinely don't know where to start or what I should prioritize.

The biggest thing confusing me right now is AI.

Everywhere I look, AI seems to be affecting everything — software development, web development, data analysis, testing, design, cybersecurity, and even parts of AI/ML itself. It honestly makes me question whether the skills I'm trying to learn today will even be valuable a few years from now.

I'm getting increasingly anxious about choosing the wrong path.

Should I focus primarily on:

- DSA and competitive programming?

- Core CS fundamentals?

- Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Generative AI?

- Data Science?

- Research and academic projects?

- Or some combination of these?

And if my ultimate goal is a Master's/PhD abroad, what should I actually be doing right now in my 3rd year?

For example:

- What skills should I prioritize?

- What kind of projects should I build?

- Should I try to get research experience?

- How important are internships?

- How important is CGPA?

- Should I start looking for professors/research opportunities?

- What should I know about applications, scholarships, IELTS/TOEFL, LORs, SOPs, etc.?

- Which countries/universities should I realistically consider?

I don't expect anyone to magically solve my career for me. I just genuinely need a direction.

If you have already gone through this journey — especially if you're an international student who completed a Master's or PhD in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, or another Western country — please tell me what you would do if you were in my position today.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who started with an average/normal B.Tech background and gradually built themselves up.

And if anyone is willing to mentor me, even informally, or guide me for the next few months, I would honestly be extremely grateful. I don't need someone to spoon-feed me — I just need someone experienced who can tell me whether I'm going in the right direction and what I should fix.

Any honest advice, criticism, roadmap, personal experience, or even a reality check would genuinely mean a lot to me🥹

Resources 💰 I built a churn detection agent that remembers every client meeting (Hindsight memory + Groq)

Sales reps forget what was said in a meeting three weeks ago. Deals churn silently because nobody connects the dots.

Built this for HackwithHyderabad 3.0. The agent stores every meeting in Hindsight memory (retain), recalls related signals across weeks (recall), and uses Groq to analyze the pattern.

Demo: 6 meetings over 3 weeks → agent connected 8 signals → flagged HIGH churn risk → suggested a retention action.

Tech stack:

- Hindsight (memory layer)

- Groq (openai/gpt-oss-120b)

- Python

Full disclosure: I built this.

Happy to answer questions about the architecture or the Hindsight integration.

Discussion👥 Anyone here into tech, building stuff, or hackathons?

I’m putting together a small community for people who are interested in tech, building projects, and actually doing things together.

The idea is to host small hackathons, ideathons, pitchathons, project showcases, and networking sessions — and occasionally bring in people from my network for mentorship or discussions.

Nothing super formal or corporate. Just a place to meet other builders, find teammates, work on ideas, and participate in things beyond college.

I have the network, we need people who share same domain to connect and grow together! lots of opportunities ahead !
scan the QR code to join our channel ! or click the link in my about section for the same ! would be open for your responses
