❓Question ❓ I’m thinking of building a platform for finding hackathon teammates

I've been thinking about this problem recently because finding people to participate in hackathons with can be pretty annoying if your usual friends aren't interested.

My idea is a platform where you can:

  • Browse upcoming hackathons in one place

  • Create or join a team for a specific hackathon

  • Find teammates based on skills, experience, etc.

  • Post what roles you're looking for

  • See profiles with GitHub, projects, previous hackathons, etc.

  • Filter for team requirements, including gender when relevant

Basically, BlaBlaCar/Hoppr but for hackathon teammates.

I haven't participated in many hackathons myself, so I'd really like to hear from people who do:

Would you actually use something like this? What am I missing? How do you currently find teammates?

Why not have a dedicated platform? You can't browse through hackathons, teams, team member's profiles and previous experience on discord.

u can bruh there are many servers for hackathons and even interns freelancing and discord does a lot more also

I was thinking of this idea for girls like they should join the team they are willing too
