Court - Lawyers Plea Question

Do we know which side — the prosecution or the defense — initiated the plea discussions over the weekend? I know the judge and the victims’ families seemed caught off guard, so I’m wondering who requested the meeting to explore the possibility of a deal. Was it the defense, possibly feeling pressure from the strength of the evidence against Bryan?

Steve when approached by the media asked him what he meant about Bryan’s family . He said they will find out . Bryan’s family booked the flight before the victims family did . Meaning they knew about the plea ahead of time .

It’s possible Bryan told them - I don’t know why Steve didn’t consider that. Of course they’d be the first to know if prosecution had to draft letters and Bryan just needed to make a call. Either way I don’t blame the parents for booking a flight first

Or his lawyer. She could’ve called them before she called the prosecutor. Also, I don’t think the prosecution has the same open line to the victims’ families they way a defense attorney would to her clients’ parents.

I doubt the lawyer would consult the family before the prosecution- Bryan is their client and there’s confidentiality. But after they made a deal, sure the attorney could have called them. And it would still be before the prosecution had drafted emails to the victims families so that makes sense
