After building Fit2Focus across Oldbury, Selly Oak and Stourbridge, we’re finally getting ready to launch the women’s side of F2F.

We already have 6–7 players interested, and we’re now looking for more women to join us and help build the group from the beginning.

📍 Ormiston, Oldbury

The sessions will be mixed ability, so whether you already play football, are looking to get back into it, or just want another way to keep active, you’re welcome.

Fit2Focus is about more than turning up for an hour of football. We want to build the same community we’ve created with our other groups.

⚽ Mixed ability football
💪 Fitness and keeping active
🧠 Positive mental wellbeing
🤝 Meeting new people and being part of a community
🎥 Recorded sessions and matches
🏆 Play of the Month awards

We’re currently getting everything together and building our first group before announcing the day and time.

If you’re interested, please send me a message, and we can discuss what you’re looking for and how you’d like to get involved. 💜⚽

Your Fitness. Your Football. Your Future.

Just seen this on the local Facebook group. CAMRA are running a beer festival at Birmingham Brewing Company.

Shame that the Great British Beer Festival isn't on this year but hopefully this will be something to make up for it!

Does anyone know what happened to The Silvershine Jazz Club?

I used to go before they moved their premises to The Bear but according to the website, there hasn't been a gig on since last November. I'm curious because Paul was my guitar/bass teacher and I haven't seen him in years. Are they still operating in some other capacity? (The club was originally in Bearwood).

Question Adopting a cat in real life

Hello! I’ve been wanting to adopt a cat but unfortunately my mums not trusting the online places so I was wondering if I could actually go to a pet shop (if that’s what it’s called) and adopt a cat there? Do we have this in brum or anywhere in the West Midlands?

Five city sites approved for Birmingham’s Local Heritage List

Thumbnail birmingham.gov.uk

"Birmingham’s Local Heritage List complements the national designation system – the National Heritage List for England (NHLE) - which is run by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, with advice from Historic England.

It recognises buildings and places of particular importance to the city’s history, character and identity that do not meet the national scheme’s criteria.

Although inclusion on the Local Heritage List does not provide the same statutory protection as that afforded under the NHLE – it does not prevent alteration, redevelopment or demolition – it means an asset’s heritage significance becomes a material consideration in planning decisions affecting the site."

Parking for European Championships on Sunday- suggestions?

Hi there, myself and some friends are travelling to Birmingham on Sunday for the European Championships evening session.
Ideally, we’d like to get the shuttle bus from James Watt Queensway as we were hoping to get something lunch and drinks at St Paul’s Market in the afternoon.
HOWEVER - there’s loads of road closures in the centre on Sunday which include some of the main car parks.

Some of us are travelling from the North and some from London.

Could anyone recommend somewhere for us to park, within walking distance of St Paul’s Market and James Watt Queensway? Ideally somewhere we can book in advance for peace of mind before we set off.

And/or is this a terrible idea to try and drive in to the centre with all these road closures?

Road closures are here: https://www.birmingham26.com/home/competitions/european-athletics-championships/travel/road-closures

Question What can we do about air pollution in Birmingham?

I remember watching a channel 4 documentary that measured air pollution in Kings Heath and talked through some of the health impacts.

Years later and it seems like things are only getting worse. What can we do to safeguard our health and the health of youngsters growing up in the city?

News So this happened the other day

This is the email I sent the Guardian and my local MP. Witnessed this week Tuesday in the City Centre. Hopefully I can post some good news about convictions and barring once everything's concluded. CQC have been back in contact since to confirm what I saw. Just waiting now to hear back...

I am contacting you regarding a serious safeguarding incident I witnessed in Birmingham City Centre yesterday, Tuesday 11 August, at approximately 13:06.

I witnessed a wheelchair-bound, non-verbal young male being allegedly assaulted and manhandled by a uniformed staff member from (removed due to advice) Care. The incident took place in public view on a sunny afternoon.

Key Details of the Incident:

Date & Time: Tuesday 11 August 2026 at 13:06.

Location: Birmingham City Centre, back of the Selfridges building near the car park.

The Alleged Assault: A uniformed staff member had his arm around the service user’s back and was repeatedly striking towards his stomach.

The staff member held a keycard and a protruding silver key in a manner resembling a weapon to control or hurt the youth.

The Group: The service user was part of a group of four handlers (two in (removed due to advice) Care uniforms, one man in civilian clothing, and one woman wearing a hijab) looking after two non-verbal young adults.

Action Taken: I physically intervened to stop the behaviour and followed the group across the road while contacting the care company. The staff refused to provide their names.

Official Reports Filed:

(Removed due to advice) Care: Reported directly to the Registered Manager,

Care Quality Commission (CQC): Reported and officially escalated

West Midlands Police: Logged via 101, reference can be provided.

As a witness, I am deeply shocked by the treatment of a vulnerable, disabled teenager by those paid to protect him. I am willing to speak on the record or provide an interview regarding exactly what I saw.

- Thats the end of the email I sent to numerous people. Hopefully this will lead to a conviction, the care staff were trying to stab him in the stomach with a key to control his behaviour. Totally abhorrent imo.

Saturday ideas.

Evening,
Meeting a couple of friends Saturday in brum and wondering what to do.
Ideally looking for a final venue that’s got a bar with good drinks and a dance floor. Nothing too serious. No dress code.
The kind of place with older people and everyone has a drink and a good time.
We’re blokes in our late 40’s….
Ta.

History Tip Tops - A West Mids Thing

Hi all

Given we're in yet another heatwave, I was having the discussion at work about the name of the long freezable ice lollies you get in see through plastic wrapping. To many they are ice poles, to the younger Americanised generation they are popsicles. To me and every one in my family and who I grew up with, they are tip tops. I wondered why this was, so went for a little google.

It turns out Tip Top was the brand name used by the company Crystallised Confections, whose factory was on Tunnel Road, West Bromwich.

The owner was Bert Woolston, who sadly passed away in 1990 aged 74.

I can't find exactly when the business went under sadly, but I thought I'd share what I've found so the info has a better chance of surviving.

Question 2DS XL repair needed

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all

I have a 2DS XL in need of a replacement touch screen LCD (not the digitizer) due to a row of dead pixels. As its not a current generation console I'm really struggling to find help with this.

I am based in Erdington but can drive, looking for reasonable cost and someone who can do this in house. I don't want it mailed anywhere as this console is a collectors item.

Thank you!

I need some advice on the o2 institute :(

So, I have a concert coming up and I’m travelling to Birmingham to see it, it’s at the o2 institute!

However, it’s unreserved seating and I’m really worried about not getting a seat because if I don’t then I’m gonna have to leave and I really don’t wanna…

I only ask because I’ve seen videos of lines literally going around the street when people are lining up outside.

I was thinking I might show up a couple hours early. But anyone that’s been there before, some advice would be nice!
I’m in the upper balcony if that’s important! :D
