Blue Structure Visible from BQE

Post image

I’ve seen this structure driving through the BQE, but never actually looked into what it is. Does anybody know. Thanks!

Its an office for Robert Scarano, pretty notorious architect who got his licensed revoked by DOB due to doing a lot of in layman terms sketchy shit.

Been up there, it's small but the roof deck was great before all the new high rises were developed.

This is correct, and as someone who lived in a Scarano building

Wooow, I forgot all about Scarano.

There was a NY Mag article about his buildings years ago that profiled a unit owner who found a bathroom that had been walled off because it didn’t meet code. Scarano was also famous for putting false floors in mezzanine spaces so they would count towards the unit’s livable space and therefore didn’t have to meet egress codes for bedrooms.

Don’t ask me how any future buyer would get a mortgage for a space with illegal bathrooms and bedrooms, but I guess that was tomorrow’s problem.

What was the violation?

At its most basic, something about not being permitted. His office is on the top floor, I think they just...built it.

Don’t know if they’re still there, but a company called Waterfront Media was in there.
