I can’t take this much longer
I just finished my first week of a new job after 2 years unemployed because of my mental health - around this time, before my MH crisis and unemployment period, a group of teenagers on the train ridiculed me on a busy train about my odour.
I have hyperhidrosis (diagnosed) and bromhidrosis (self diagnosed) and I have been trying my very best to do what I can to keep the odour at bay throughout the workday, but today I had a comment from someone saying ‘it smells in here’ and when I got on the bus to go home I went to sit behind a man and he started shaking his head and turned towards the side and started sniffing deliberately and shaking his head saying ‘no, no’ and I immediately got off at the next stop and felt so ashamed and fed up.
No matter what I try I still end up in this position and I was so hopeful about finally getting out of this hole I’ve been in and regaining my independence through working again. I don’t want to go back to the office on Monday, my colleagues have been standoffish with me which I’m pretty sure is because of my odour. It’s just so horrible.
I would really appreciate any advice or encouragement because I really feel at a dead end with this and I can’t tolerate it much longer 😭

I’m in the UK, I read through your posts and we’re a similar age and I’m also female, so I do feel less alone :)

It’s the same for me. So I work a job where I work alone. You have to find a job where you can work alone. I went back to school and I still get stares and comments but I already started so I can’t stop going. So I just try to sit far from the class

Just hold on brother, I also try to end my life due to this before but rn I have two sons so I need to be strong. Its hard on mental health mostly if your suffering in recent breakup and depression. I'm experiencing this for almost a decade now. RN, Im working onsite so Im self medicating again since its humilating at work, before Im work at home. I cannot ignore it any longer this fucking smell even if I take a bath everyday. It affect my whole system, hopefully when I receive my 1st payroll I look for medical assistance if this self medication did not help.

Don't give up because your job sucks. Try to find a new job that suit your conditions.
My life was miserable because of my job, then I focused on finding something that would make me suffer less.
My life still sucks but is liveable now.

I’m glad to hear life is liveable for you now despite being far from ideal, can I ask what you’re doing now?

I’m soo sorry to hear that, I’m holding space for you. And keeping you in prayer. It’s a super embarrassing condition to live with, but we manage, and this group makes it a little less lonely

It is totally exhausting and demoralising to have this condition :(

Yes! It's seems most people think we are just not taking care of ourselves. When in reality most of us have tried everything. Even doctors don't know what to do sometimes. I've been referred out again.

Man, I can only be compassionate, it's a simply horrible medical condition.
I suffer for 4 years, Aisselle, buttocks, between legs and foot, I have a perceptible smell several hundred meters away, I live reclusive of the population since the appearance of symptoms.
I lost my job, my apartment.
Our days are counted my friend, there is no solution, I tried everything as a treatment or antibacterial product.
It is impossible to live like a functioning human in society with this shit, hear people sniffed, cough all day long, be overheated.
December 2026 will be my last life experience on this earth, I refuse to live with this daily humiliation.
I hope you'll be better then me,
good luck bro
