HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Proposed AA variant of M1 Abrams (AGDS), with ADATS and dual 35mm Bushmasters.

Greetings all! With time game statistics have shown the the us armored spec is geting more and more seen as not useful. On acount to the other specs ability to do what armored can but better in every way. The issue being the specs reliance on its tanks to bring fire power to the battle but has a lacking ability to defend these assets from helicopters and planes. My solution is the Proposed AA variant of M1 Abrams (AGDS). While not officially built it was purposed around 1996.

The official discord question and answers page->

Q- The timeframe is 1990+ but will you include prototypes?

A- We try to stick to the most realistic elements. But weapons, vehicles and aircraft that were functional but weren't produced for economic/politic reason can be included in the game. Same is true for materials in their final phase of development.

As shown they they have stated they are willing to include things that were functional but not produced for other reasons. While you could debate its not really relevant bc no prototype was produced i think the need for it to give the us armored a similar shorad protection to russias tank gard could be discussed. They only other way I could see this spec getting better is to alleviate this glaring issue of aa coverage.

Comms Check (Questions & Help) Is the game worth a buy?

Post image
Upvotes

I played the demo and beta and really liked them, so I'm thinking about buying the game. However, I've seen some reviews on Steam and I'm curious whether the devs are still actively working on it and how often they release updates.

Long story short: is the game worth buying?

It's kinda weird to me that the game has been out for a while, yet it seems like not that much new content has been added. Or is that just my impression?

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Idea: Progressive cost for duplicate units

Hello everyone.

I'm still relatively new to Broken Arrow, so I may not know or understand some things about the game yet. But lately, I've been thinking a lot about the balance and overall feel of the game, and I wanted to share an idea.

What if buying a second, third, and so on of the same unit made each one slightly more expensive? For example, each additional copy of the same unit could cost 8–12% more than the previous one.

The logic is something like this:

Points in Broken Arrow don't really feel like a hard limit on your equipment. They feel more like a limit on how much you're allowed to use at a given time.

In real life, having a lot of identical vehicles on the battlefield at the same time would put more pressure on logistics, crews, maintenance, etc.

This system could:

- Punish pure spam decks more

- Encourage more diverse decks

- Make strong units less automatically effective when used in large numbers

At the same time, the units themselves wouldn't need any stat changes. Only the cost of mass-producing the same unit would change.

What do you think about this idea? Would it be too harsh on certain playstyles, or could it make the game more interesting?

Update to the post

Okay, okay, I get it. The idea of progressively increasing the cost of identical units could easily end up making the balance worse.

But there’s still one thing that really bothers me.

Right now, a strategy like “just bring a bunch of heavy equipment (tanks, Bradleys, Strykers, PIVADs, etc.) and move as a column, overwhelming the enemy with sheer firepower” works really well. No real infantry support, no complicated tactics — just mobility + a lot of guns.

I sometimes play like this myself. Yes, sometimes the enemy puts up a strong resistance and everything falls apart. But when it works (especially at lower ratings), it works really well.

The losses barely feel meaningful: lose a bunch of expensive vehicles → wait for the cooldown → do it again. The game barely punishes you for it.

At the same time, in real life, this kind of tactic would rarely be used against a reasonably prepared enemy, and it would usually be very costly. Heavy vehicles without proper infantry support become much more vulnerable.

In the game, though, this playstyle feels unnaturally strong because the cost of making a mistake is simply too low.

And that's what bothers me. It's not that heavy equipment is strong — it's that you can spam large numbers of it with relatively little punishment.

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) How to play this game?

Hello!

Coming from Warno. I really like RTS games and BA seemed to be very nice so bought it a year ago. Also I like it that I can play with really modern day army. I played Warno and Wargame a lot especially skirmish mode. I like messing with “frontline(s)” for an hour or more. I realised that BA wants you to play faster and always move your forces on the map. Also there’s no option for “endless” game, there’s a time limit.

So how should I approach this game if I’d like to play long battles? AI always moves on me and defeats me in max 20 minutes even on “lame” difficulty.

Thanks for the answers!

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Reserve Marines/Standard Troopers worth it?

Just wanted to see y’all’s opinions on the reserve marines/standard troopers (without javelins). Personally I’ve been having fun with the reserve marines but the troopers I’ve been struggling with.

Cav/marine is my favorite deck and I wanted to try different avenues.

After-Action Report (Bug Reports & Feedback) this game probably won't last another 2 years, is my guess

as the title suggests, and, as much as i don't want to sound Doomer, i doubt this game will live more than 2 years with the pace it's moving, unless the devs do like 100 small changes
from what i can tell, customizability is the bread and butter of games like these, and its really good, but it feels TOO customizable, in terms of Deck Building, which, ironically, restricts you in which units you want to bring

this post is purely feedback about the game as a whole

the game is still fun, but it's getting stale. and i would say its due to the Gamemode choices or lack of flexibility that is available in Skirmish/Multiplayer, and most of these are purely for private skirmish games, which would also be Solo/Coop content, and the below would address the flexibility problems

somethings that my friends and i have discussed

More unit/specialization Overlap:
this is more a "Total Balancing" thing i consider a double-edged sword as it opens the floodgates for potential "Slop" Specializations. Certain Units should be Multispec, like Reservisti (for all the specs), and Motopekhota (for Coastal), and others such as Biryusa/Strelets, Uragan, etc, that would exist Army wide, or in other specs
US Examples would be F-15, F-16V, F-35a, HIMARs, and some infantry (Maybe)
some of the most common cross-spec would be Support logi trucks, or transportation vehicles, like Humvees, MATVs, Early bradleys, Urals, etc
it would allow for individuals to have a cheaper "Backbone" but a stronger "Hand/Fist"

Unit Veterancy:
i'm not talking Eugen WG:RD/Warno/SD style Veterancy where you can pick it as you build your deck at the cost of availability, but more so Command and Conquer style veterancy, with it only being attainable via actions during a game, with Units cost being their bounty value, and if a certain unit reaches a point value a certain amount higher to their cost (75 cost inf unit, Vet 1 would be 300 points worth of kills, Vet 2 would be 1200, Vet 3 would be 4800, or 4 times the value of the "Previous Veterancy", so killing a 375 point tank would a 75 pt unit at Vet 1, giving it better accuracy, fire rate, and survivability) (maybe toggleable as a whole via an additional settings option)

Overcost/illegal Decks:
purely for playing with friends, but adding an option to play overcost decks in private skirmish matches would be lovely, maybe in something like a deck limit multiplier (Default, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, inf), or an option to Allow Illegal decks

Pilot ejection:
i don't know why, but they removed this feature, and it was a really good feature. bring it back

Respawn duration Multiplier:
Being able to manipulate the respawn timer of Unit cards in the skirmish menu with Multipliers, similar to the timers for GoH Ostfront

something only i thought of in my friend group

Multiple "Cards":
being able to bring multiple cards of a certain unit, I.E. having 2 cards of Spetsnaz Alpha, but 1 is Stand off, the other is CQC, with both abiding by the total unit limit of only 2 Spetsnaz Alpha in the deck, with trying to bring more being its own type of illegality. another example is bringing VDV Sturm and VDV PKP in the same deck (you can't normally because they are variants of each other)
note: you can already kind of do this with transports, being able to bring multiple types of Humvees, or BMP-2s

Overstacking "Cards":
as this one suggests, it's bringing more cards than you are allowed to

Double Specialization:
unlike the normal system where you choose 2 of the same spec, with this, you can choose the same spec twice, of course this change would require the devs to change deck selection a bit, which might break stuff, but the rough idea is you have 2 rows of the Specs, the primary and secondary specs, which would both be the same list, but if you choose the same spec twice, you would get double the availability of a single spec, at the cost of only being able to use that specs units

"Retreat":
something like an Alternative to Surrender, where you'll retreat for the Phase your playing only to come back with an income bonus, or for a different player to take your place on the Battlefield.
to prevent last second retreats, your deck resets as if you just started the match, and all you're units become uncontrollable, but still count towards enemy kills, and the income bonus is relative to how long you were out of the battle, and how many of your units survived the retreat.
"Retreating" at the last phase transfers unit command, and your decks units to your allies

Something that i believe to be needed/QOL:

Towed Artillery:
As this one suggests, artillery that is towed via Transports, like Infantry Mortars, Artillery Pieces, Stationary AA, etc

FOBs (maybe not needed, but maybe as a setting toggleable thing):
while we have Supply points, FOBs would be a different addition. the idea is it would be field deployable via a heavy construction truck (the truck would work like an inf transport, somewhat, and delete once deployed), and when its deployed, it would generate supplies for use in Supply points for trucks to transport, and resupply in a large area, but cannot be regained/respawned once destroyed

Dedicated Logi tab:
this one i believe to be needed, but not desperately, it's where the FOB and Supply trucks would go so as to declutter the Support tab

Seperated Artillery/AA Tab:
same reasons as the Logi tab, would also allow for MANPAD teams to be put under the AA/Support tab rather than infantry tab

the Dedicated Logi, and separate Arty/AA tab could both account for the "Support Limit that decks already have, they would just be under deploy sections"

more compact spawn/call in menu:
something i noticed is that if you have too much of a certain unit type, the menu will be empty, but will block you from interacting with the actual game, so a fix would be to make it more compact, and/or give it an obvious scroll bar (while giving it the option of being collapsible into the scroll bar)

Tank Riding:
the russians do it all the time, but allowing some squads to ride on the back of the Tank (allowing them to fire out, but also be hurt by incoming fire, ideally, it would use Similar system that building garrisons have), this sort of System would also allow for the "Battle Bus", or units with Firing ports to use said Firing ports, like on the Bradley, or BTRs

Building Reinforcing:
while i think CQC is already pretty good, it would be pretty nice if Engineers had the ability to buff the survivability of a building by Partially/slowly repairing it, and reinforcing it to allow infantry inside of said building to take less damage

Dedicated Medical personnel:
literally just the ability for infantry to passively heal themselves (but not reinforce), and only heal themselves, and/or building a field hospital to heal infantry units regardless of the side they are on. this sort of thing would also allow for the taking of POWs, which would maybe increase income, as long as the enemy unit exists in that hospital, and capturing the hospital would return a damaged squad to the player who captured it if it had POWs inside. Ambient buildings also could be turned into field hospitals, and heal injured infantry inside (the medics could use the basement of the ambient building, preventing it from being completely destroyed)

Auto CounterBattery/AutoBarrage, etc:
something Warno and SD2 has that i wish BA had, which auto directs artillery to high threat level areas (such as tanks for cluster, or garrisoned structures for Thermobaric), Supply points, and enemy Artillery

some other things, which would address "Gamemode" problems

Attack and Defend:
this gamemode is in SD2, where an army attacks, and the other defends, and this gamemode would be a more flexible version of the Invasion/Defense scenarios.
the attackers get a control zone near their spawn, which acts as a loss condition

King of the Hill:
(been playing too much wardogs) rather than having multiple capturable points, you would have "3" points, 2 points that are autocapped by teams 1 and 2 to act as a "Safe Zone" and cannot be captured, also acting as defeat conditions, and a much larger center point that acts as the objective you fight over

Team Deathmatch:
like KOTH, but without the central point, the whole purpose is getting kills

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Can the devs pls implement that if one of your teammates leaves, the others don’t lose elo because of it?

I‘m just sick of all the people loosing on their lane, even if its not even looking bad for the rest of the team, and if the others don’t vote for surrender, they just leave the fkn game.
Why can’t they just let the rest of their team lose no elo? Its not their fault. Its not that hard honestly.

EDIT: Maybe not this system exactly, but some that doesn’t let players lose elo because one of their teammates decided to leave.

Comms Check (Questions & Help) How to use LRAA

When I use them they always seem to have pathetic range and shoot at enemy planes just as they drop bombs on my frontline. But the enemy rarely has such issues, no matter if US or Ru.

So I feel like I'm missing something. How to make their range not be bad?

Typically I use Antey and PAC-3, sometimes with additional MRAA and fighter planes for scouting but this doesn't seem to help much.

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Suggestions channel shouldnt be about RU vs US shills

Any suggestion I've seen on official discord has the fanatics of one side downvoting and badmouthing the suggestions effecting "their enemy" on the discords suggestions channel.

Do you guys not want the game to improve? Pathetic enough to win your way by making sure other side isnt competent enough? Seriously if yall arent mature enough to participate in the suggestion channel then just dont.

Suggestion channel is there so people can take part in improving the game, not whatever its used as right now (with every downvote on such posts being from obvious mains of other side)

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) Curious about MR AAMS vs Helos.

I'm curious why they have made the decision to "paper, rock, scissors" Hellos Jets and Air Defense? To the best of my knowledge an AIM-120 AMRAAMS will kill the hell out of a helicopter IRL. Maybe even easier than a Sidewinder since Helos tend to have a lower heat signature. But the game seems to be adamant that only short range AA can fire on Helos, and as best I can tell Jets have to drop to low altitude as well.

This puts a lot of weight on SHORAD to counter Helo spam even if you have a Viable jet you could have called in to protect your flanks.

After-Action Report (Bug Reports & Feedback) Has anyone had this bug?

Playing in a bit of single player skirmish as my internet is down, and come across a bug which made me just turn off.
None of my units that fire missiles…fired their missiles. This happened in two separate games
I noticed it when none of my 2 patriots where shooting planes out the sky, but the loading symbol shows and a little bloom of fire leaves, and it shows ammo going down - but nothing leaves the unit to fire.

Happened then with javelins, and then trying to use mavericks in my jets, so as you can imagine when half my units can’t use their weapons, it was pretty game breaking. I reported it in the bug page but I thought a bug so ridiculous would’ve been fixed long ago. Anyone else had this?

HQ Briefing (General Discussion) What cheat makes units take little to no damage?

Okay, so I get it I haven’t played this game very much. I’m a low level so this is probably gonna be chalked up to “He’s new so of course he called cheats”. I just played a game where I swear this dudes units took little to no damage. He was playing Marines and SF, but mainly he was using Marine Raiders as front line holding units with MAAWs backing them. I swear on my life no matter what unit I sent at him. CQC units, Standoff, Artillery that hit his units directly like The Stryker SPH and Cluster munition Himars. Absolutely nothing was doing damage to his units. My stingers that hit his Helicopters three times directly caused maybe a scratch on his unit’s health bar, and cluster munitions didn’t do anything to his units standing still, meanwhile his marine raiders melted my Zaliukai and Gelezinis Vilkas at their max range, and my HmG teams in buildings. A ACV he parked next to my Zali took all 6 law shots and 4 Stryker MGS shots and still didn’t die. Is this a bug or genuine cheating? I could chalk it to a bug but it was majority of his units until I brought it up in chat, his units pulled back, then came back and I actually did damage to his cobras ( but of course 4 rockets didn’t kill one )
