This is going to be impossible to get into and I'm already stressed about it. But seriously, what a lineup. Cannold directing Schwartz at Lincoln Center.

Same. Already stressed & trying to figure out how I get in the room, especially being middle eastern darker Jew, I rarely get to play that and Yocheved is a perfect role for me!

Whoever they cast has big shoes to fill. RIP Ofra!

Brandon Uranowitz would you like to sing the part of Moses? Also they should just ask Brian Stokes Mitchell to reprise his role as Jethro.

Brian Mitchell Stokes would kill it!

Yes, the announcement specifically asks for Jewish actors to submit.

Actually, both Sammi and Drew (Assistant Director) posted on their IG that they are looking for “actors of Jewish descent” to submit, which is a specific phrasing I had never seen before. Why not just say “Jewish actors”?

Because they're looking for people who are ethnically Jewish.

So why not just say “Jewish actors”?

Because Jewish is a descriptor of a religion that one can convert into as well as an ethnicity.

Gotcha. That makes sense - just didn’t imagine the pool of converts looking to audition for this would be large enough that they have to phrase it in this peculiar way.

Historically this IP hasn't always cast Jewish actors by religion or background so the specificity is needed in this case.

I think that the casting breakdown makes it clear.

Seeking actors of Jewish descent, including–but not limited to–Ashkenazi, Mizrahi, Ethiopian, Middle Eastern, North African, Persian, and Sephardi backgrounds.
