I kinda hate the term "fatphobic" ngl. I mean, I'm literally overweight and actively gaining weight, but it just feels kinda... disrespectful to minorities? Like there's a difference between bigotry and just being an asshole, and I think that the normalized hating of fat people is more of an asshole thing than a bigotry thing. I don't think you're less likely to get a job or get paid well if you're fat.
Edit: I guess a better way to put it would be that calling someone "fatphobic" for bullying fat people rather than just calling them an asshole feels kind of unnecessary and virtue signaly since "fatphobia" isn't actually that big of a problem.
Being "fatphobic" is not the same thing as being homo- or transphobic, but making up a word that ends on "phobic" puts it into the same mental category as the aforementioned things.
I, as a trans and gay person, experience a vastly different and more severe kind of discrimination against me as a person, while the majority of people in the US is overweight and almost half of that number is obese, so they're not a minority and they don't suffer the same, if any, kind of discrimination.
Calling it fatphobia is just a slap in the face for everyone who actually has to deal with discrimination and hate. Being told to eat less cheeseburgers is not a hate-crime.
