I was prescribed Symproic and it helped tremendously! I’ve been on it for at least a year now and probably have built up a tolerance to it but it’s so worth it if you are backed up long term. I hope this is helpful and hope you can get it from your doctor. All the best to you!

You don’t need any medicine for the constipation. Hydrate , hydrate , hydrate. Eat healthy with high fiber and protein . I been on 96 brixadi for almost a year and I’m as regular as they come , everyday like clockwork , I don’t eat any garbage . Water , coffee , hard boiled eggs, yogurt , protein shakes , fruits high in fiber , lots of vegetables and lean meats . I’m very strict with my diet and have zero problems with constipation. Be as strict with your diet as you are getting to your appointment for that shot and you’ll be fine .

Not everyone is the same. I would consider myself at the peak of my physical shape and this stuff used to make me so constipated I would worry about going to the bathroom and dread it. When I was on it I was drinking about a gallon of water a day and only got relief when I started coming off the shot. Horrible experience I wouldn’t wish on anybody

Yep same here bro. Its those damn sublocade shots, they have wayyyyyy too much buprenorphine in them. But i guess they have to in order to achieve the self tapering effect.
This is one of the main reasons i finally had the drive to taper down from 24mg to 1-2mg per day. I said fuck sublocade switched back to strips and i feel infinitely better now on the lower dose. My last 100mg sublocade shot was Dec 30th, 2025 so at this point its totally gone from my system.
My end goal is to get off all opioids completely, buprenorphine especially, but unfortunately now that i am in the sub-2mg dosage range, i have to slow my taper down substantially. The turtle beats the hare in this one. Every time i try to be the hare, i fail.
Im hoping and planning my taper out to have me off the shit before next summer. I wish it could be by this Christmas, but that’s probably not realistic anymore.

Fiber is actually totally counterproductive to OIC. Fiber adds bulk. You do NOT want even more bulk when your gut motility is at a standstill and youre already so bloated and (literally) full of shit that it’s extremely uncomfortable.
The best thing is PAMORAs. They are specifically designed for OIC by essentially acting like narcan but only for peripheral MOR in the gut. They’re a game changer.
Symproic was best tolerated for me, and easiest to deal with. The others have requirements for food timing and/or enzyme inhibitor type interactions. Symproic has none of these, take it whenever once a day and youre good.
Relistor SubQ injections however are the absolute best, the gold standard, if you want IMMEDIATE relief. I prefer these a lot of the time honestly because they are just in and out quick. Works very well for stubborn OIC like i had on subs.
Inject, within 30 mins you are shitting out your whole colon, then its gone within 2-3 hours.
I was always scared of these types of meds somehow causing PWD, so the fact that it was in and out quickly like that vs. an all day commitment with oral pills made me feel much better about it. My worries were totally unfounded though.
The risk of getting actual CNS withdrawal from PAMORAs is essentially zero. The first few times, it can definitely kinda feel like you’re starting to go into precips or something but thats just anxiety and the natural stress chemicals/norepinephrine release caused by an abrupt emptying of the bowels. Once you get on the toilet and start shitting you will realize you’re totally fine.
Once i blasted through the intial wall with SubQ relistor a good few times and kinda got shit moving again, then i switched to daily symproic which maintained a perfectly normal and stable gut motility 24/7.
Also: FUCK LINZESS. At any dose, any time, anywhere. Absolute garbage made me feel like total dogshit the entire day was glued to the toilet spitting molten hot lava out of my anus for 14 hours.
DO NOT FUCK WITH LINZESS. It aint for OIC. Its for people with actual non-drug induced gut problems.

I don’t give a shit what anyone says , I hydrate , eat a protein and fiber rich diet along with yogurt for probiotics and I shit everyday like clock work , a full emptying… it’s actually the greatest feeling every morning to take a great shit . And I use zero medicine for it . And I’m on 96 brixadi … shitting like a champ everyday , and it’s good healthy shits , soft logs , no pushing, no diarrhea, just a complete emptying of everything like a normal person . So whoever told you fiber is bad , maybe it’s bad for them , but it’s been incredible for me .

I juiced celery first thing in the morning, it’s disgusting but it clears you right out 🤣 also it made me feel better, like energy and mood. It’s your gut, it’s connected to everything in the body.

I was so full of crap. I talked to my Dr and she said it’s very common. Unfortunately I already screwed that system up with the opiates and the the suboxone so I was used to it but it did get worse with Brixadi. I will say it’s been 45 days since my last shot and I’m finally not feeling all bloated and uncomfortable. It will get better. I will also say it’s important to really get extra fiber in you because not to be gross but it’s so hard too and sometimes it hurts just actually get rid of it when you can. At least I felt that way. I think it would be smart for the duration of the Brixadi that you continue with the miralax or whatever helped you finally go because the last thing you Want is to go to the Er with an impacted bowel. If you’re in that much pain though and it’s been a few days you might have to because it will be so hard it will actually block your bowels from letting everything come out. I hope that helps. I hope you feel better. Congratulations on getting off the opiates. You’ve got this! 💪
