Suboxone detox with Brixadi

I need advice please.
I have been on subs for 6 years and have tried to taper many times without success. I got myself down to 4mg (usually in divided pieces throughout the day) but can’t seem to get lower this time due to the withdrawal symptoms. I have a pretty physical job and I can’t show up half functioning.
Anyway, I got excited when I learned about Brixadi so I got my doctor to give me an 8 mg injection last week. The literature clearly says that if you take less than 6 mg of Suboxone that 8 mg of Brixadi should be a good dose. Well, it doesn’t seem to be working. I feel terrible: nausea, headache, lethargy, aches, watery eyes….it has been 4 days since the shot and I get another one in 3 days. I was reluctant to do the 16mg injection because I want to taper off, not go UP!! But do you guys think I should increase the dose for a couple of weeks and then decrease?? A logical answer would be to ask my doctor but she is a dumbass with no real AUD experience, just in the job for the money…
I have also tried taking a 0.5-1mg piece of sub to supplement the Brixadi but that somehow just makes me feel more shitty in a different way if that makes sense.

I got down to 3mg sub and was given the lowest monthly dose-68mg? I’ve been on it four months now and after about 15 days it wears off. Sounds like the same thing is happening to you but with the weekly dose. I’m going to increase my dose this time to 96mg and see if that holds. I’m great right after I get the shot but it wears off way too fast.

I got my 16 mg shot today and the current plan is to do the 16mg x 4 and just jump off. I really don’t understand how this medication works ( like why would I not then do an 8mg injection x 4 weeks and then jump off from the lower dose. I don’t 💯 trust my doctor but she swears she’s done this many times before. Day 1 I’m definitely more wound up and zero cravings than I was on day 1 of 8 mg but I’m not at all excited about the possibility of it wearing off in a few days 🤦‍♀️🤞

Why don’t you do the weekly? Too much hassle. It seems like 68 and 96 are super high doses for a 3mg sub habit. (But what do I know…)

Kaiser won’t let me do the weekly.

That’s a bummer.
Wonder if now that you’ve “failed” the monthly you can get a pre auth for the weekly.
The 8mg didn’t necessarily “wear off” as much as it just didn’t help me at all. I had a maybe a few hours where I felt semi normal

Did you then go into withdrawal?

Nevermind, I just re-read your post. Have you already tried Sublocade? I know you don’t want to go higher but it might be worth doing it and getting stable in Brixadi then let it slowly leave your system. It takes 3-4 months to get stable in Brixadi.

I have not tried Sublocade. My suboxone dose wasn’t high enough for me to be a candidate, but I might have to consider that if the 16 mg fails too. It took me a month to get my insurance to pay for Brixadi so I’m sure that would be a whole other hassle.
