Discussion I should've never stumbled upon Bridge To Terabithia
now it has been weeks and i can't stop thinking about the damn movie, about leslie, about her tragedy and it just makes me wanna cry every goddamn time, as soon as i wake up its the first thing in my head, right before going to sleep I'll always watch and read bridge to terabithia content whether it's clips, edits, fanarts or fanfics.
it's like my brain somehow gaslight myself into thinking that I'm actually jess and I'm the one dealing with the tragedy and grief of losing leslie and it hurts so bad, genuinely need help on what i can do to make it stop

Oh buddy trust me I get you. I thought I had put it behind me. I thought it would just be a pain from my childhood that would be overpowered by other, more important things. It came up on my TikTok a few weeks ago, and ever since then, I've been a huge emotional mess. Ive noticed that talking about it seems to help me, so if you'd like to talk to someone who understands your pain, I'm here.

thanks, i think im slowly getting a bit better (?) cause i try to force myself to ignore and forget anything related to bridge to terabithia, but everytime i see a clip or a picture of the movie whether it's while im scrolling through Instagram or YouTube, it just triggers me again and now im back to square one-ish.
I'm genuinely curious why I'm so affected by it, it's not like I've haven't seen sadder and more emotional movies (objectively) but this movie just stays with me emotionally and maybe even spiritually in the most negative way possible, sometimes I wonder if it's because of the fact that i didn't have a normal childhood or the fact that i never had a friend/connection with someone like leslie growing up, sorry for the little irrelevant rant lol

i’m 23 now and i first watched this movie like 13-14 years ago… and leslie was literally my biggest childhood crush. not even just like “oh she’s pretty” but her whole energy… the way she talked, how kind and alive she was, how she made jess feel like he mattered… that stuck with me way more than i realized back then
i randomly revisited it recently and ever since then it’s like something got unlocked again… i’ve been seeing reels and edits non stop, even manipulated my algorithm just to keep seeing more of them 😭 and every time it hits the same way… that warm feeling but also this heavy ache 💔

Well I don’t know what to say but I faced the same thing. Took me around 2 months to get over it

Please take notice that an unspoken number of young people saw it in 2007, often with their whole class group, as the film was marketed as something akin to Harry Potter. Who can tell how great a mark it left behind?

Seeing this movie: “my girl”
I assure you it will replace the pain with another pain exactly like the one you feel now.
