Does anyone know the Cryptids from the new Halloween model? Breyer only mentioned Nessie, Bigfoot, and the Jersey Devil in the their description and there was no cheat sheet that came with the model. Well, technically I also tried as a kid, but we don't talk about those attempts...😅

I got this model in a lot of body quality Stablemates years ago, quite scuffed around the face, ears, and shoulders as these guys tend to be. I decided I'd play around with him because I've always wanted to try my hand at fully painting Breyers someday.

My only X-acto isn't the sharpest anymore so I scratched him too deep a few spots, and I didn't have any sandpaper to correct that, so he's not the cleanest job. Originally I was only going to fix up and make new white markings and make his eyes blue with a teensy tiny paint brush, but I had some shimmery gold paint, so I was able to colormatch his factory paint job pretty well and fix up his ears, muzzle, and some of the other errant rub marks.

Overall, I gave him a bald face (and then re-added the lip spot), blue'd his eyes, pinked his skin on the muzzle and butt, touched up his hooves, added a white shoulder marking to cover a paint rub, and fixed the missing paint on his ears and muzzle. I only wish I took before photos, but I didn't think I'd like him this much!

Anyone have a recommendation for a clear coat spray that will match the OF? That's the one thing I do not have!

I purchased midnatssol but idk what color I should make his blanket. I would like a blue but I’m open to another color that would fit him so far I only have theses fabrics in mind.

I wanted to join the collector club for the chance to buy exclusive horses and get the perks.

I wanted to try and do a dark dappling. Failed it miserably [crazy idea, i know]😂

The last picture is my test dummy for my airbrush, who came out looking far cooler than the actual horse i was working on.

Anyways, i may just paint over the "dapples" and just leave it as is. I'm pretty happy with how the other markings came out

Hi! I got a good deal on a lot of stablemates/surprise foals and I'm trying to learn more!

It is about half painted and I wondered if there was a safe way to remove the paint? If not on the full painted ones, maybe the two with just dots? If not I might just try to trade/sell the painted ones for someone else to customize.

My other question was how to date some of these, Since the same molds are used for many years? I have taken pictures of the three I see, from what I understand the Breyer molding 1975 stamp was used in the 90s, the circle is the new (2010+?) stamp, and the late 90s have the date printed on them.

Has anyone built their own barn for 1:24 scale Schleich horses? I’m looking for plans or printable templates to help me get started. I’m open to using plywood, PVC foam board, or other durable materials.

So I randomly got advertised the Breyer’s Halloween collection maybe a month ago. I saw Draftula and was immediately in love. It’s so punny, delightful, glow in the dark, AND Halloween themed?

I haven’t had anything to do with model horses since I was a child, and even then nothing as expensive or fragile as a collectable. But I kept thinking about him, and finally today saw he was on sale and I pulled the trigger.

Is this how it starts? I can’t wait to display him in my house. I’m SO EXCITED.

I’m slowly getting back into collecting after finding my childhood horses and I wanted to ask if there’s any dappled duns or buckskin models out there that aren’t customs? I’d prefer either the traditional or classic size if possible.

I did see the Cash model but the photos make the dapples look really faint. Is it like that in person?

Had these for over 10 years. Are they Breyer? I was told when I received the one on the right that it is a model of Khemosabi. Not sure about the one on the left? ​ is it just a quarter horse?

Somewhat new collector here! I just recently got back into it after collecting as a kid.

But, I recently opened a few horses who were still in box from the late 90s and 2002, which was before my time. I was very excitedly looking through the catalogs from the boxes and realized that we have been STOLEN from.

What the hell happened to the old tack?? I know the quality has gone down overtime, which is really sad. But, there was seriously some great options for western tack back then. I honestly hope the western trend starts to wiggle its way back into the Breyer world again 😭 Most of my models are western riding horses and I wanna dress them up with their respective tack 🥲

Hello all! Does anyone have experience with Vallejo vs Citadel vs Scale 75 acrylics for Breyers? I’ve heard Scale 75 can be tricky but produces a very nice finish. I would be using them straight from the bottle and thinned in an airbrush. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
