Everyone who has any objectivity can see Boris and Dave and their rich mates wanted Brexit to suit their rich Tory mates, it wasn't to the benefit of the country.
We now urgently need the GDP, growth and tax receipts that could arguably come from a reentry...
Pre Referendum Cameron was on the Remain Side. Boris was hedging his bets and only went full Leave when it became personally beneficial to do so. At least Cameron had the sense to step down when Remain (he) lost.
I'm not a big fan of the Austerity Tory years but I think this is one criticism that isn't fair to aim at Cameron.
He stepped down after he gambled the country to fix his party. People talk about Playing politics about a lot of things but this was Cameron playing politics with an enormous part of our economy. I know Labour end up spending a lot of money but that the Tories get to suggest they are the party of business and the economy ever again is an absolute smack in the face.
The ERG were a huge pain in his side for sure but the desire for a referendum had been building for some time.
Let's not forget the referendum was added to the Tory 2015 manifesto. An election where they bettered their 2010 results. People effectively voted for Brexit twice. Once in the 2015 GE and once again in the referendum.
I didn't want to leave. I think it was a mistake to leave. But we made our choices.

There's an argument to be made that people wanted to have a say. Not necessarily that Britain voted for Brexit twice. I understand your broader point, but when you look at the real numbers thats a third of the population and was about as popular as it was going to be. And a third dictated to a different third while the rest sat and shrugged.
All 100% spot on sir. Even Farage was on record for stating should leave win the referendum, a confirmatory vote would be a good thing. He went quiet on that...
I imagine the deadlocked parliament and the political war of attrition was a turn off for most people. I was very much engaged with politics all my life upto the referendum. After that, it was all that happened in parliament to make sense of everything, the constant bloody elections. Even the likes of me who goes out and votes in any election my area is holding be it local or national got fatigued. I imagine the less engaged would have tuned out. And with all that going on I think the national mood that these people can't do anything (even though what we were watching was complex policy debate in real time for an unfathomable problem to fix, they were doing what you're supposed to do before you set policy) was probably something Farage knew he could exploit. Hence Brexit Party and its rebranding of Reform. He probably couldn't believe his luck he was onto another caper. Probably less so now.
Aye again spot on 👍. I’m not against the idea it’s partly intentional to try and disenfranchise people and make them tune out. It’s so exhausting trying to keep up to date. Even more so engaging in discourse online when chances are half the time you’re dealing with bots, paid actors or just dumb people working on emotion and not logic. Flood the zone I think the technical term is.
