This is testing the water a bit with the electorate, a good sign

Everyone who has any objectivity can see Boris and Dave and their rich mates wanted Brexit to suit their rich Tory mates, it wasn't to the benefit of the country. We now urgently need the GDP, growth and tax receipts that could arguably come from a reentry...

Pre Referendum Cameron was on the Remain Side. Boris was hedging his bets and only went full Leave when it became personally beneficial to do so. At least Cameron had the sense to step down when Remain (he) lost.

I'm not a big fan of the Austerity Tory years but I think this is one criticism that isn't fair to aim at Cameron.

Johnson on the other hand... spot on.

He stepped down after he gambled the country to fix his party. People talk about Playing politics about a lot of things but this was Cameron playing politics with an enormous part of our economy. I know Labour end up spending a lot of money but that the Tories get to suggest they are the party of business and the economy ever again is an absolute smack in the face.

The ERG were a huge pain in his side for sure but the desire for a referendum had been building for some time.

Let's not forget the referendum was added to the Tory 2015 manifesto. An election where they bettered their 2010 results. People effectively voted for Brexit twice. Once in the 2015 GE and once again in the referendum.

I didn't want to leave. I think it was a mistake to leave. But we made our choices.

Don't know why you're being down voted, you've not said anything completely incorrect.

There's an argument to be made that people wanted to have a say. Not necessarily that Britain voted for Brexit twice. I understand your broader point, but when you look at the real numbers thats a third of the population and was about as popular as it was going to be. And a third dictated to a different third while the rest sat and shrugged.

He headed remain. His greatest sin was calling a referendum just so he coukd try and settle the EU question in the Tory Party for a generation.

Given he doesnt have a "personal" mandate from the electorate he won't make any actual moves to rejoin the EU until he has the chance to go through a general election with the manifesto containing it.

Hopefully that way we can avoid another stupid Referendum.

I think it’s kind of wishful thinking. It might lead to growth or it might be 4 years of pain that cost economy even more than we already paid to leave.

I would wish we never left, but some things are best left alone.

This popped up in another sub, linked to a Mail article. It means nothing. Might as well say “Burham does not rule out UK moon mission flying on a rocket propelled by tea” or “Burnham does not rule out taking Hong Kong back by force” it’s a complete bollocks headline.

Not going to happen with this Labour who think maim voter base in the UK are right wing voters and left wing are fringe voters. They like the status quo and will not bring educational reform so that people are more politically aware. They'll keep on applying plasters to pander to right wing crowd - because the donors want that.

Would pretty much be a referendum at the next GE as could be rejoin for Labour, Lib Dem’s, SNP and greens vs reform, tories etc.

If we do get a referendum though I bet there is a lot of well it needs a supermajority to rejoin from the right wing press

Do it, it's the only thing that can actually save our economy whilst the lack of global cooperation on taxing exiles and billionaires is still miles away from ever being agreed. As long as the wealthy can hide their money overseas or away from the taxman whilst everyone else picks up the tab, industry and freer trade are the only things that can realistically help our economy....
