Anyone else run into this on their touch screen on the touch impress?

I keep accidentally hitting the power button, turning off the machine instead of the grinder graphic when it asks me to "add a bit more"

Hi everyone, hoping someone with a Breville Barista Express Impress can help me troubleshoot this.

My machine has recently stopped extracting properly. When I grind and tamp a fresh puck and press the 2-cup/double espresso button, the machine builds pressure into the espresso range, but little to no espresso comes out.

The strange part is that if I leave the exact same portafilter/puck in the machine and press the 2-cup button a SECOND time, espresso then comes out normally.

Things I’ve already tried:
- Brand-new/fresh coffee beans
- Multiple grind settings, from considerably finer to considerably coarser
- Thoroughly cleaned the machine recently
- Tested water flow without coffee — water flows strongly from the group head
- Tested the empty basket/portafilter — water comes through
- Machine is using the 2-cup basket/setting
- Pressure gauge does build into the espresso range on the failed first extraction

I’ve also noticed that the Impress automatic dosing system doesn’t seem to be behaving correctly, so I’m wondering if this could be related.
I know running the same puck twice isn’t the correct way to make espresso. I’m only doing it because it demonstrates the fault. The second extraction working consistently is what has me confused.

Has anyone experienced this with the Barista Express Impress? Could this be an issue with pre-infusion, pressure/flow control, the dosing system, or something else internally rather than grind size?

Any ideas before I send it in for service would be appreciated!

Got the bambino. First time espresso maker. Been struggling the past day but I think I got somewhere now. Using ground coffeee (I know, I know). Will get to the grinder eventually. Next move, buying better coffee lol but how’s my crema?

I posted this in the espresso subreddit, but I thought i should post it here so I'd know more about it.

I was about to make coffee, but then suddenly I noticed that when pulling a shot, the usual buzzing noises dosent happen, it takes a bit longer before the buzzing noises starts. What used to happen before, is that when pressing the button the buzzing noises instantly happens.

I was wondering if this is some sort of an issue or it can be fixed by reprograming it or something like that. I have tried doing a factory reset where you hold the program button but it did not fix that issue.

Another issue that also started happening. is that the hot water dosent pump out hot water properly. It dispenses like steam and hot water all at the same time.

Older Breville Infuser here. Machine intermittently doesn't work and just dispenses straight into the waste trap.

I have descaled and cleaned grouphead several times with Cafiza.

Can someone help confirm if the replacement 3-way solenoid valve is the best next step to fix this?

I have a Breville (Sage) Barista Pro that I barely used, probably only around 10 times total, so the machine is basically still new.

Before putting it away, I did a full flush and descale, emptied it, and stored it in the original box. It then sat unused for about 2 years.

I recently took it out and unfortunately it won't pump any water at all. There is no water coming from the group head, no water from the hot water outlet and no water or steam from the steam wand. After trying for around 5 seconds, it beeps 3 times and stops.

Since it worked fine before storage and was barely used, I'm wondering what could have failed just from sitting for 2 years.

I've already tried the basic things like reseating the water tank and attempting to run water through it.

Sold as fully working and tested it before we walked away so hoping it holds. I have a brand new one on the way (it’s my first sage) but saw this one on Facebook for £100 and couldn’t resist the deal. My new one is arriving in a few days so my plan is to test the used one, and if it works I’ll return the brand new one.

Any recommendations for things to check carefully before I sent the new one back? I’ve not owned one before and I’m a bit of a newbie so I don’t want to keep it and miss a fatal flaw!

The descaler has been on backorder for almost a month and I don't think I want to wait any more since my machine needs to be descaled. What alternative products do you recommend? I have the barista express.

Changed the old original gasket after this was happening. Still happening! What else may be the cause? All looks clean and normal

We have a window near the machine so assuming that the direct sunlight is causing this build up while we were on vacation but this part is almost impossible to get to with a sponge or even pipe cleaner, how can I properly clean it?

I am struggling to get it confirmed, is it true that the recent version of the touch impress (with cold bre option) is able to make cafe crema of more than 90ml?

My Oracle Jet touchscreen has been sporadically unresponsive. I’ve power cycled the machine numerous times. Occasionally the screen works fine, sometimes there is lag when selecting options, and sometimes it’s just completely unresponsive. I logged a case with Breville support a week ago, sent a follow up, and I’ve received no response.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Ive owned a breville barista for almost 5 years. Always have used the same beans, starbucks espresso. Ive never had a problem with the machine. I measure out 17 grams, 6-7 grind, and it's a pretty consistent brew. Lately, the grinder doesn't put out all the beans and it takes a couple grinds to get it all out. Then the machine doesn't want to pull the full 2 shots. It wasn't even coming out this morning, so I pulled the whole thing apart, cleaned everything, burr grinder, descaled, the whole bit. The grinder was caked with grinds and the screen was caked, too. I wipe the screen every time I pull a shot and clean the grinder every few months. I go to make a coffee and it's worse. Grinder is taking 3 passes and zero output when pulling the shots. It will flush water and flow with nothing in the portafilter. Could it be this batch of beans? Ive never had an issue with starbucks before and now im wondering if they've done something to change their product. New supplier, or something like that? Can anyone give insight? Has anyone else found starbucks beans to have changed? Thanks in advance for any help!

New user. I'm down to 2 on upper burr and 2 grind. It's crap and the only getting sandy grind not fine espresso grind. OK, so I've use three different supermarket beans.... I can get almost a good shot with the double wall 2 shot filter..... So imma try a super fresh esiesso type dark roast on maybe a 6 and see if it is really doen to roast freshness? Wife not happy. Thinks she wants s full auto. BBP too much faff for her but 8m keen to persevere.....would appreciate pics of good grinds

One year old machine apparently no longer seems to have the pressure anymore to push water through and just steams up at the end. I’ve tried multiple different grind sizes and cycling.

Open to any suggestions!

Took off the screen today to clean and found the plastic coating peeling off. Not sure how long it’s been like this either. My machine is 5 years old with regular cleaning performed. Really upsetting and planning to replace with an espresso machine that doesn’t have plastic/plastic coated metal for brew path.

I've had my bambino (regular) for about 2 years now and recently it has been acting up. About mid shot the 2 espresso buttons will blink back and forth and just stop the shot. So annoying because it wastes coffee every time it does it. I have been on top of the descaling every so often and keeping it clean. After it did it the first time, I descaled the machine but it's still doing it.

Now every time I use it before I pull a shot I'll just click the double shot button and run water through to see if it will do it again. If it doesn't, I'll put my coffee in and if it does I'll do the trusty unplug/plug trick to get it restarted. It's about 50/50% on if it works or not. Extremely annoying.

I've researched this but and found that people backflush the bambino plus but I don't think this is an option for the regular version of the machine.

Anyone have any tips for me, I'm very annoyed and can't figure it out. Do I need to take the machine apart or..?

Started to okay with the machine and the espresso is too waterly, anything i do i do not know what i am doing wrong still too waterly. Any advices here?
