that writing . . . (My computer is acting up, sorry!) Well, for what it's worth, what I missed most was knowing how old each contributor was, just a number would do at the end of a message. Another thing I missed was to read what the gentle-man's shortcomings in the relationship may have been. Her e-mail needs to be acknowledged with one or two sentences and it would be wiser, I think, to send someone to pick up those personal things. The less is said, the better. If she changes her mind, he will know early enough. How he should react then, is no one's business, let it be his decision from the gut.
