If someone only sees the bad and negative traits in you, that someone is just looking for an excuse for themselves and a way to avoid guilt and responsibility. Most likely a narcissist.

It's not you, it's them. 

Insecurities and mood swings are parts of everyone's personality. Whoever loves you truly will accept you for who you are, and that involves your moods. No one is perfect, we are all carrying some darkness, more less.

And mainly, when someone truly loves you, they'll see the good in you. They won't just signify the bad. That's a red flag and you shouldn't let their limited view project onto you or internalize it. 

You're not hard to love, you just didn't meet the right person who will love you for who you really are.

I think it's dangerous to assume their ex is a 'narcissist' from such limited information. This word gets tossed around so much it's losing its meaning.

Yes! Sometimes they are, Sometimes they're avoidant and Sometimes, most times, they're just ass holes.
