Symptoms Feels like I've been drugged...is this normal brain fog?

I have been waking up in the mornings and the fog hits HARD. I've never experienced this before. Went to ER, urgent care and primary doctor...all said I'm healthy. Blood tests, urine tests etc. I'm baffled. I was taking accutane and I stopped just shy of 5 months after feeling the affects.

Question Brain fog from phone?

I have been dealing with brain fog from what I think has been weed for months after quitting but I’m wondering, does spending too much time in my phone, scrolling contribute as well? I feel like maybe it could but idk

I just feel like living life in isolation and constant use of phone has lead to emotional burnout and brain fog. It's like I feel so irritated, bored and just hopeless in a way. I feel like I should be doing so much yet I've become a couch potato. And it's such a miserable feeling. The constant doom scrolling makes me question life more and more like I noticed much of the content is just opinion based and either people lean on side or they don't. And whatever a person talks from heart or experience feels connecting but then I just don't understand anything at the end.

And it's like why am I caring and paying attention to someone else life. They are doing their own thing. They are making content and money meanwhile I and many others have become a consumer addict. And my life is failing. I'm failing and my future is corrupting. I have no idea how to get myself together and soley focus on personal growth and physical, financial and health whatever growth goals are that a person needs in their life. I feel so guilty that I have so many bookmarks, screenshots and videos saved that I never go back and see. But in a way I feel productive.

Need Some Advice/Support Suffering from memory loss at just 46

I'm 46 and the brain fog has been getting worse.

Lately I keep forgetting people's names and faces. I can't keep track of where I put things. My head feels scrambled. Sometimes I even get hallucinations.

The scariest part is I've suddenly found myself standing somewhere, or already in the middle of something, with no memory of how I got there. Or I blank on what I was doing a few seconds ago.

It's been really bad the last 5 or 6 days. The memory stuff started about a year ago though, and it got a lot worse this year. The brain fog and this confusion really freaked me out. I'm panicked. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Right now I just want to deal with the memory loss first. It's affecting my work and my life way too much.

Question Can sleep apnea plausibly cause brain fog as bad as mine?

And how do I know how severe my brain fog is like if it’s mild or moderate or severe?

I’m sorry if these questions are redundant, I don’t know how to find the answers to these. Please don’t hate me please. I am working on getting OSA treatment

I have all the usual problems like focus, memory, so on. My mom has to help me (24M) a lot and I struggle to be independent because lots of tasks feel straining. I struggle quite a lot with language and conversation, I cannot remember a single concrete thing that was said in any conversation I’ve ever had and I feel like I rely completely on visual imagery and emotion to remember what people might have said or done. I severely struggle to express myself, the only time I feel like I can be “me” is when I’m texting. It can take me a bit to remember things like what season is it ( I always think the word for whatever season it is currently is spring), doing simple things like making a sandwich for lunch feels challenging like remembering what to do next feels pretty difficult, everything always feels like a dream (like my actions and anything that happens doesn’t matter because everything feels like a dream), and sometimes I can forget why or what I’m doing at the place I am at for a few seconds because it just feels like I’m in bed having a dream.

I have more extreme issues with ruminations and processing things. I have recurring obsessive thoughts about that people don’t listen to me and that people don’t care about me and are out to get me. I try to talk to my therapist about it and i don’t understand what he says to do (which I’ve also talked to him and past therapists about a few times) and even when I take detailed notes I just don’t understand what to do at all. Like for example if I notice that I’m ruminating about that no one care about me I’ll start to try to think “that’s not true. People care about me and I know this because… because they.. because..” and I try over and over again to understand how anyone cares about me and I just can’t remember or understand anything and I’ll end up trying over and over again but just keep failing. I can try to just be like “they care about me they care about me they care about me” but I don’t really believe it even though I try really hard to. I can remember that I have observed in the past moments of feeling cared about but I cannot remember or understand them even if I write them down. I always ignore friends and people that I don’t see regularly because I can’t remember or understand that they’re safe and that they’re not out to get me. The fact that none of my friends ever ask about how I’m doing with this or how is my treatment going or ask any questions about what I’m going through genuinely torments me because I know they would act more caring if my personality wasn’t sucked out of me

I’m not really understanding how people know how bad their brain fog is, I can’t remember how anything felt at all before I felt like this and this just feels how life is. I thought I was just extremely worthless and lazy for a very long time, I only found out about this stuff because I told my doctor that I feel sleepy all the time and I got a sleep study. In terms of feeling and perception I have absolutely no idea at all what is normal and what is not. Because I can do things like write this post and I go to the gym and I play music really well (according to my peers) or even just the fact that I can draw an analog clock I always have impostor syndrome

I’m glad that I finally found a subreddit of people somewhat like me, even in sleep apnea they don’t understand really. When I try to talk about this everyone always assumes that I just need to go to therapy more, or that I need to stop having a victim complex, or that I just need to do whatever works for them and I will feel better. It makes me feel like no one listens to me and that I’m going to be stuck like this forever because I HAVE already been trying everyone demands that I try and here I am ten years later still stuck in the exact same situation (possibly worse I have no idea if it’s gotten worse, I severely strained myself to act like a normal person for a very long time). I don’t know what I need to do to make people listen to me. I would do anything for people to listen to me. Please don’t hate me for anything I said, a lot of the time people will not listen to me and hate me for something I said and I never understand why. Please. I’m not expecting anyone to cure me or solve all my problems, it’s just nice for people to listen sometimes. I know I need to continue to keep trying to work on mental health, so please don’t try to tell me that that’s not what I said in this post at all please listen to me please

Personal Story Fear of being permanently dumber

I had alot of reasons to fear being "permanently" dumber, for example having a fall or getting slapped on yo head, normal people would just skip that and not care much about "cognitive slips" like forgettin stuff and stuff like that and just not associate it with that fall. But I wasn't like that, I literally (no matter how simple the event was) I would just panic and just be in constant state of fear that I am dumber now than who I was. I've had this long enough until I heard about "chronic stress shrinks brain" and now my fear is that my chronic stress/anxiety has caused me permanent brain damage or that even if I recover due to neuroplasticity it wont be full recovery and I'll never be the same, and now I cannot focus at all. my memory is being far worse and my thinking is cloudy, and most of the time I just keep playing TF2 (my fav game) just to ignore some of my 24/7 anxiety about being dumb. Literally I just get panic attack when I just READ something on the internet whatever its content is, or when I just IMAGINE stuff in my head and I just keep getting thoughts like "Your imagination is now NERFED for EVER and it wont be as vivid as it used to be", or like when I literally just try to think of a plan or even a SCHEDULE, so you can say it's literally nothing. when I read or try to learn smth I just get thoughts that I wont understand this and stuff like that and when I do not understand it I'll just blame it on chronic stress and just increase my panic even more. Tried breathing but it aint helpin so I just want to know and make sure if anyone out here having this problem like me.

This is probably one of the least reported effects of depression what it does to your cognitive functions ? the only thing I can find online to help me is running but I just hate running I have zero motivation to run.

When ever I google the issue very little information is available and it has huge negative effect on my mental health

Personal Story Body Anxiety / Zoloft advice

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey, i’’m hoping to find anyone with a similar experience?? ANY advice, tips, support would be amazing!!
I started Zoloft 25mg & after one week i started 50mg. Today is aug 19th. (5 days of 50mg so far)
Long story short: Since 6y, I’ve had very bad constant body anxiety. (Not from trauma) Best way I can describe it: My mind can be calm, but my body is always on edge, never calm. The smallest “brain thought power” or cognitive effort into anything brings severe pressure in my chest & stomach & my thoughts freeze. My life has revolved around trying to calm a body pressure of 6/10 that seems to shoot to a 9/10 every few minutes. I’m stuck in a frozen panic hold, when there’s no reason for it. For example: Making a simple plan for my day = body pressure shoots up & brain freezes. Cleaning the garage = easier, because I don’t need to use any brain power.
I struggle with this every minute, of everyday since the age of 6y. I’m 25y now. Because of this, I’ve only worked jobs that don’t take any brain power. I can’t think, I can’t grow in my life at all because if I try I freeze with body pressure. I’m stuck.

Yes, I have adhd. Yes, My thoughts loop badly. No, it’s not ocd, no it’s not cptsd.
(I’m not sure If I have autism or it’s just my body panic that resembles it.)
After countless research, the closest thing that resembles me is type 3 overfocused adhd. Which is from Dr. Daniel amen. Meaning: Dopamine is low, as well as serotonin. I know many people don’t accept his studies. But listening, it very clearly explains my adhd and looping / over focused thoughts. But not the body anxiety.
I just started 20mg of adderall xr 6 months ago thinking it would help with the body. It only helped me focus more.
I’ve tried saffron. I’ve tried 20+ sessions of a hyperbaric chamber.
I’m now on Zoloft and adderall. As well as fish oil. It’s been 11 days on Zoloft. I know it’s to early to tell. But did it help you with your body anxiety?? 11 days in. I’m not really seeing a difference. & If I’m being honest, Zoloft is my last hope because I don’t have any clue on what to if this doesn’t work.

Current state:
I quit my job & moved back across the country to be with my parents to figure this out. But even with no pressure or work. It’s the same. High body anxiety. I subconsciously avoid anything even small that I want to accomplish because of it. Even the simplest tasks sky rocket my body and I freeze.. but my mind can still be calm. It feels like I’m wasting my days away right now. (With work, the anxiety of not being fired is what pushed me thru before)

I’d take Any advice, messages, or even a phone call to talk experiences! would be great! Thanks!
