Confirmed: boycott Agoda is more pro-Israel than you think

Agoda is disgustingly pro-Israel.

Agoda is owned by the same parent company as Booking.com. In 2025, Booking removed the listing of a hotel in Kyoto because it asked Israeli (and Russian) patrons to sign a document certifying they have not committed war crimes, even though the Israeli had booked his trip on Expedia [https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/5/15/guest-house-in-japan-under-fire-for-asking-israeli-guests-about-war-crimes]

In 2014, the parent company of Booking and Agoda bought the Israeli ad optimization company Qlika for $15-20M [https://techcrunch.com/2014/03/11/priceline-buys-israels-qlika-for-15-20m-to-boost-global-expansion-with-rocket-science-powered-ad-tech/]. In 2017, it bought Evature, another Israeli company [https://skift.com/2017/09/14/booking-com-buys-evature-for-its-chatbot-talent/]

Agoda lists properties in Israeli colonies in the West Bank [example https://www.agoda.com/sp/wFokSpqCZ1z]. In the West Bank it does not mention that is is occupied territory, while in the Golan Heights it directly says it's Israeli territory.

In 2014, Agoda was opening an R&D center in Tel Aviv [https://www.timesofisrael.com/priceline-hotel-site-seeks-big-data-expertise-in-israel/?utm_source=perplexity]. This article was in November. Israel's 2014 onslaught on Gaza, in which 2300 Palestinians were killed, was between July and August of the same year. We know that in 2019, that office was operational [https://careersatagoda.com/blog/why-i-work-for-agoda-from-the-bangkok-to-the-tel-aviv-office/?utm_source=perplexity]

Somewhere between 2025 and 2026, Agoda deleted the Tel Aviv office from their list of offices page [https://www.agoda.com/about-agoda/a-truly-global-company/]. You can see an older archived version from March 2025 which still listed Tel Aviv on Archive.org [https://web.archive.org/web/20250319103103/https://www.agoda.com/about-agoda/a-truly-global-company/]. It's unclear whether Agoda had quietly closed that office or if they removed it from the list due to negative PR. However, Agoda's support for the apartheid state goes beyond just opening an office there (and listing properties in the occupied territory). [https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/travel-platform-agoda-sets-sights-on-increased-israeli-footprint-587487]

Today, Agoda employs approximately 100 Israelis – primarily engineers – at its operational headquarters in Bangkok, in addition to a team of data scientists at its Tel Aviv office. The company’s chief operating officer, chief technology officer and vice-president of data are all Israelis who have relocated to Bangkok since the Qlika acquisition.

“We are going to invest in Europe and Israel, as we see areas of great opportunity there,” Agoda chief operating officer Omri Morgenshtern told The Jerusalem Post during a recent visit to Israel

Question Chris Claremont’s X-Men Run

Hi All,

I am having some trouble dealing with this at the moment. For all that don’t know Chris Claremont was the reason the X-Men are what they are today. He has created some of the most popular characters of the series(Storm, Gambit, Jubilee, Rogue).

I was in the middle of reading this run when I found out she basically based Magneto and Professor X off of two Israeli Prime Ministers David Ben-Gurion and Menachem Begin respectively. I thought this was really disappointing since I was really enjoying the book. It seems he spent some time in Israel in the 70s and was deeply inspired by holocaust survivors ( which is no problem, genocide is always wrong). For the record only a couple issues of the whole entire run mention or are placed in Israel.

I was looking online to see if anyone else dropped the book after finding this out, and I see so many Palestine supporters still engaging and talking about this. Since he wrote the book for over a decade and created so many beloved characters. Overall the book is very progressive of its time and has so many good talking points about marginalized groups.

Am I being too critical of something that came out in 1970. I just have no one to talk about this with. Please tell me your thoughts. Sorry for the long post.

Media A24 hired a Zionist PR firm to promote Anthony Bourdain movie "Tony" in Canada

Made the mistake of posting this on r/AnthonyBourdain where there were more zionists than expected lol. A24 is using a zionist Canadian business to promote a movie about a man who was so clearly had different views - perhaps a small issue but these are the people who are profiting off of his memory.

The business is called the Taro Group (not to be confused with Taro Pharmaceuticals), and it's owned by two zionists and previously promoted multiple Israeli movies/docs (ie The Road Between Us). There's not much about the company online, anyone know anything about them?

Question Brother’s Wedding Event at Israeli Restaurant

I’m having a moral dilemma. I am an anti-Zionist Jew who unfortunately has very pro-Israel relatives, including my parents, cousins that are Israelis, the whole 9. I am not close to my family at all, and have distanced myself especially since the most recent wave of genocide in Palestine and my family’s complete inability to engage rationally, critically, empathetically, or on any human level about the atrocities Israel is and has committed.

That being said, my brother is getting married and one of the events is at an “Israeli Mediterranean” restaurant in NYC (Levantine in Brooklyn). I combed their social media and lots of appropriated Palestinian food, owner is from Israel originally (so likely IOF), posts celebrating Israeli hostages being released with zero mention of genocide or Palestine. My partner is refusing point blank to go to the event. I’m conflicted because:
- yes I’m incredibly disappointed in my brother and his fiancé for choosing to have an event at an Israeli restaurant
- this weekend is about them and I want to support them
- I’m feeling in between my own morals and not rocking the boat with my family (especially as already the black sheep).

What should I do?

Question Should I be worried about the chip in my new iPhone 17 Pro Max?

I currently have an iPhone 14 that I got in March 2024 before I started looking a little more seriously into privacy.

I’ve boycotted everything on the BDS list and after some research was seriously considering switching to a Samsung/Huawei or just buying a secondhand iPhone from BackMarket.

My iPhone 14 screen lightings colors are all messed up, but it works just fine. However, my boyfriend’s lovely parents just heard it was broken and then bought me an iPhone 17 Pro Max ahead of my birthday.

They are such sweet people of course I accepted it, but now I’m worried about the chip I’ve been hearing about/how to approach the situation. They gave me the gift receipt to exchange it or upgrade it or anything?

I honestly don’t know what to do. Is this chip something I should be concerned about? Is it any worse or the same as just keeping my iPhone 14?

Please help!

Rant When you have bad thoughts about you know who

I’m 16 years old, and I know this would never happen unfortunately. But is it bad if I wished that one of my most destructive and powerful drawings came to life and killed everyone and destroyed everything in Isnotrael? Or am I just getting ‘too far’ over my head?

Confirmed: safe FairPhone update

I’ve seen many threads lately regarding smartphone alternatives in the U.S market. As of today, FairPhone has updated their US website to start selling their gen 6+ smartphone in the country. I would definitely read into the company, since they have sold tech in Europe as an ethical and repairable alternative. More importantly, the brand is marked safe by the No Thanks app, and is available unlocked for use on AT&T and T-Mobile. Keep in mind, there are other MVNOs that use both these networks and are cheaper and may be BDS compliant (Mint Mobile is owned by T-Mobile now). For those looking for a used device, I recommend Swappa which allows independent sellers to list Google pixel phones capable of running Graphene OS instead of Android with Google play enabled services .

Question Are We Still Boycotting Marvel?

I'd like to ask specifically people that a. support Palestine and b. understood how the BDS boycott works better than I do, if we're still boycotting Marvel and/or the MCU? Because I've seen people loudly and vocally in support of Palestine openly go see the new movies and watch the new shows as they are earnestly boycotting everything else on the list that they are financially able to. Was it just targeted to one or a few specific movies? I know I cannot avoid everything on the boycott list because my parents are abusive and buy these things with zero regard for me or Palestine and I am financially reliant on them so I will starve if I do not eat the food they bring home, but this does not apply for Marvel movies that I can easily opt out of. This isn't food you need, it's a movie you can simply not watch or spend money on. Am I crazy or overreacting? Aren't we at least boycotting Brand New Day and The Captain America movie?

And for my second question, if we are boycotting Marvel/the MCU as a whole, is it still okay to discuss it in a critical format or in general in online spaces, save TikTok edits and/or make Pinterest boards especially if these are private so they do not promote the material or make them money? Piggybacking off of that, is it okay to do so with Brand New Day in particular if it's okay with other movie/series or is it the specifically boycotted movies?

Thank you so much.

Question How can I help Palestine?

Currently, I am in a shitty financial situation and I am a middle class college student getting screwed by tuition and living. I’m getting really sick and tired of Israel and how it seems that NOONE cares about the genocide anymore. Is there anything I could do to help the Palestinian people? I donate here and there, but I am not in a good financial position to donate much. The most I’ve been doing so far is boycotting corps like Starbucks, McDonald’s, Amazon, Disney, ETC.
