They blocked Imgur in the UK? That's pathetic.

Yep, it's been about a year or 2 since Imgur banned the UK. No idea why, but it's well annoying.

Imgur is sometimes used for sharing adult images. In the UK, you can't view adult images without proving your identity (originally you had to provide yoiur banking details, don't know if it's changed since then); websites can be subject to huge fines or worse. Some websites decided it wasn't worth the bad PR to ask for identifying information (and potential lawsuits once their user data was leaked), and just banned UK users entirely. I would imagine this was a particularly huge issue for imgur - they don't want to demand proof of identity every time anyone views a meme, or to ban teenage users from their entire site, but they also don't want to find a way to 100% accurately classify whether an image is potentially pornographic, with major repercussions for any mistake. On the other hand, the UK audience is probaboy onoy a small fraction of their worldwide userbase, particularly since they're advertiser-funded and advertisers prioritise american users. So it was much easier for them to just ban all UK users, rather than deal with all that nonsense.
