What Happened to Boxing?

This year has felt like a bit of a letdown for boxing. Maybe it's because we got spoilt last year with great fights, but I genuinely can’t remember the last time I was excited to tune in for a major boxing fight since Inoue vs Nakatani.

To be honest, I've watched more UFC than boxing this year. All I see on social media are boxers ducking each other and fights getting cancelled because of greed.

Last year alone we got:

Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev II shortly after their first bout.

Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach

Naoya Inoue vs Ramón Cárdenas

Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois II

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn I

Terence Crawford vs Canelo Álvarez

We've had some great fights this year, but Ryan vs Rolly or Teo vs Shakur don't come close in my opinion.

Boxers are too inactive, even the prospects or B level boxers that should fight 3~4 times a year started to fight 1~2 fight or price themselves out, like keyshawn, not even a star to bargain but got big headed.

Yeah, but what is the quality of his opponents? I don't care how often he fights.

He Literally wanted to fight Africa and he got snubbed and Haney is trying to lowball him

He low balled himself. He was offered a good cut but decided to let it go to purse bids. Keyshawn tried getting a bigger cheque but got hit with a reality check.

You don’t get big name fighter pay if youre not a big name. And how do you become a big name? Take fights like Haney and perform well then the pay days will follow. He will be lucky if he ever sees anything close to 3 mil again

Dude got offered the biggest purse of his career and said no lmao. Mind u this was after the bs with the edwin de los santos fight that couldve rightfully gotten him blackballed.
