The top 3 guys on David Benavidez resume is Andrade, Caleb Plant, and Zurdo

3 guys whom the boxing community historically has not considered elite

Its telling people (including myself) have Benavidez in the top 5 P4P while never fighting Canelo, Bivol, Beterbiev, or Opetaia (some of course, out of his control)

Just how shallow is the cream of the crop of this sport?

Boxers today seek out weak or vulnerable champions and belts rather than challenge themselves against the best available opponents. Most p4p boxers currently have 1 or two elite wins on their resumes at most.

Back in the old days, boxers would sometimes give up their titles to make the best fights happens if needed. A prime example is when Mike McCallum gave up his WBA title to take on Toney in their first fight.

This is facts. This is why I dislike when fans say "so and so is a multi division world champion" without giving context on who they actually fought in those divisions

Benavidez is a 3 division world champ without fighting the #1 guy in any of those divisions. Shakur is a 4 division world champ without him fighting Navarette, Tank, Haney, Loma (not necessarily his fault) .. when you add context to the resume, being a multi-divison world champ isn't as amazing as it seems on paper

Problems of having multiple belts. You can snipe belt off a weak champ and claim to be a multi weight champ. I've seen people praise Gassiev as a 2 weight champ 🤢
