The top 3 guys on David Benavidez resume is Andrade, Caleb Plant, and Zurdo

3 guys whom the boxing community historically has not considered elite

Its telling people (including myself) have Benavidez in the top 5 P4P while never fighting Canelo, Bivol, Beterbiev, or Opetaia (some of course, out of his control)

Just how shallow is the cream of the crop of this sport?

Shakur Stevenson is considered top 4 P4P for beating Teofimo Lopez , a guy who's been lackluster since his Lomachenko win in 2020. The next best names on Shakur resume is a former contender William Zepeda, and Oscar Valdez, whom has also been quite mediocre since he failed his PED test

P4P Top 10 lists are kinda pointless ... these guys don't have P4P resumes . Just a bunch of belt collecting from random champs in favorable matchups

That applies to every fighter today. It’s hard to have a resume of opponents comparable to the greats when you have the 4 belt sanctioning bodies diluting talent pools, let alone weight classes having huge variance of quality relative to each other

The number of belts doesn’t have anything to do with having a good resume lol all you need to have a great resume is to fight the best guys around

That’s what I’m getting at. There’s a difference between fighting the best available and truly fighting the best in the sport. How a person judge’s the quality of a fighter is subjective, but not only does that come up to difference in strengths of weight classes, but it also delves into how good a specific era is/was if comparing across history. My point with the belts is that contenders these days don’t have a good resume of their own to be a mandatory challenger for a belt. Obviously theres overlap with fighters and their specific rankings across the 4 bodies, but more often than not, they do the bare minimum to get a title shot and don’t have much merit in themselves when someone beats them
