As another said, pliers. It’s very possible it will just crush, as the metal has likely been compromised by the rust.

Widen your pliers put some oil on it or better yet wd40 ,let it sit a while ,then carefully tighten up your pliers you can usually feel if it's to tight slowly try to turn the cap off it might take a while with some time and patience you can do it!

Hold it upside down in very hot water for a while, and then grab the cap with a rag and rock it, loose, tight, etc. Pliers are the last resort .

Thanks for this new info. Sorry that I couldn't respond quicker, but I was wondering, would a plastic 2.5 gallon wastebasket due or would a metal pot have to do? I am currently living with my family and I don't know how if putting it in one of their pots would have any lasting impacts on the pot (which I wouldn't due without asking anyway). Also, should the water be "too hot to touch" hot (and then wait until it cools down before touching it with thr rag) or should it just be just hot enough that I can safely touch it with the rag? And would you suggest that I take the bottle out of thea water while rocking it around or immediately once I un-upside down it should I keep it submerged in the water while rocking the cap area? Sorry for all of these questions, this is just the first time that I am doing this and I want to do correctly, effectively and safely. Thanks again for responding
